Lease takeover process?

I’m looking at a possible lease takeover and I know bmw fs allows this with a relatively minimal fee. Can anyone who has gone through the process explain how it works step by step? And also at what point do you actually take possession of the car? I am jn California if it makes a difference.

$500 transfer fee last I checked, have to qualify credit wise. The possession time line is between you and the owner, BMW FS has nothing to do with it.
