General Discussion & ?s Best hibachi in Atlanta?

It’s been way too long since I’ve had a tasty hibachi meal.

I am not sure where to try and I would like to avoid Benihana.

The more authentic, the better. Bonus points for wagyu options and sushi.

Anyone have a go to spot? Maybe on Buford?

Nakato is the only answer in the Metro Atlanta area. As others have said, hibachi isn't authentic in and of itself, but Nakato is the best place to have the experience. The sushi is good, too.

Yes! I love how Nakoto mixes in noodles with the fried rice

Hibachi isn’t very authentic so I’m not sure what you might be thinking about.

Basically just trying to say not Benihana and hopefully a menu that has more Japanese options than American.

In Japan there are amazing spots where they cook the wagyu in front of you and make a whole meal out of it. I figured that wasn’t on the table here but wouldn’t hurt to ask if someone has seen something similar. More like an omakase for steak, but prefecture closed here, so also not sure options there.

Rephrasing my original comment: what we call Hibachi in the U.S. isn’t very authentic**

What you’re referring to is something completely different. Atlanta doesn’t have a great Japanese food scene.

Yea I just wasn’t sure the word for it - whether that is teppanyaki or if just saying hibachi would resonate more.

We’ve got some great sushi here but I don’t see the other Japanese styles much.

Benihana basically started hibachi in the US. I’d say that’s about as authentic as a pseudo japanese style of cooking can get

I’m not sure what authentic hibachi is, but I really Iike Nakato’s. I’m honestly not even a big hibachi person because so much of it is like…slop bowls covered in sauce, but theirs is great. Their sushi is good too, and it’s definitely more authentic and less “fusion-y” than a lot of mid-range places in Atlanta.

Nakato is great and actually a pretty good deal for the price. We always have enough leftovers for another meal.

It’s just a gimmick. Teriyaki express and sarku is actually bomb.com

If you want the gimmick nakato seems to be popular amongst that crowd
