I have been pretty outspoken about my journey and felt like this video would be helpful - this is a clip from my Comedy special Good Son

Did you know about the first Assyrian flag?

Before World War I, the Syriac Orthodox community of Tur Abdin designed the first national Assyrian flag. Purple, white, and red with three stars. Figures like Naum Faiq, Ashur Yusuf, and Farid Nazha made Tur Abdin an early hub of Assyrian nationalism.

The flag’s meaning:
🟣 Purple – Royalty and noble history of the Assyrian nation
⚪ White – Purity of the people and the land
🔴 Red – The blood of martyrs who died for faith and nation
⭐ Three stars – The Church of the East, The Syriac Orthodox, and the Chaldean Catholic

This flag was proudly carried at the Paris Peace Conference and by groups in America such as the Assyrian-American National Federation and St. Mary’s Assyrian Orthodox Church.

Later, it was succeeded in 1975 by George Bit-Atanus’s design, which many recognize today.

Along with some Kurdish people in the comments still insisting it’s called Kurdistan, which I don’t understand given the context of the video.

I can’t believe people still react this way

Enjoying lovely Assyrian dance and culture 😍

Juliana is an Assyrian from Iran and has done a lot of great work for the Assyrian community. Very proud of her for bringing attention to the plight of Assyrians on a major news network.

Insightful interview with HG Mar Aprim Khames of the Assyrian Church of the East, detailing the many attempts at unity (khoyada) between the Assyrian Church of the East and the Ancient Church of the East.

Highly recommend watching The Promise, a movie about Sayfo. Features Christian Bale. Assyrians are mentioned in the opening scene, but the movie itself is focused on the Armenian perspective (but what they experienced is no different than what Assyrians and Greeks experienced, and our villages were adjacent to the Armenian villages with Hakkari sitting right below Van).
