Laptop's audio cutting out while playing Terraria Calamity

Hey y'all, so I've encountered a problem recently that I really want to know the cause for. I play Terraria Calamity mod with a good friend of mine almost every day, but recently the audio for everything on my laptop suddenly cuts out while playing, and it only fixes itself when I close out of Terraria and Tmodloader. Is there any way to fix this? It's never happened before.

Edit: Should I contact Steam about this? Or is there a better subreddit I should go to instead? Sorry if y'all can't answer my question.

I am not a gamer but your problem sounded familiar - Are you running an anti-virus using Scanning of files, as you access the files?

I only ask because I remember a situation similar to this, where the anti-virus was causing interrupts because it too was accessing the same file, causing stuttering.

no, i don't have any sort of anti-virus or anything. all i have running in the background is Discord and whatever files Terraria needs to run, then of course whatever my laptop's system needs to run. i'm on Mac and i checked my activity monitor and there's nothing out of the ordinary there.

Ok, in order to properly trouble shoot your problem....go back to what you were doing where the audio cut out.But this time, shut down those other programs one at a time.

Start by shutting off the two programs you were using. Once you have isolated the offending program, come back and ask redditors WHY is this program shutting off your audio.
