If you suddenly became rich, what’s the first thing you would do?

Buy every plot of land next to me, displace my neighbours by paying them fair money, and have peace and quite forever in the town I grew in and have loved since ever.
Also, I would use my money to grew small businesses around me related to agriculture, so the produce here is plenty for everyone at cost money, no extra charges.
As someone who cook every meal from scratch, it feels just right.

Stop work. Go on a holiday where we can really plan what we want to do with the rest our lives without telling anyone we’ve now got a lot of money.

Send my parents their inheritance. $1 each.
Then I'd move out of the fucking US and never look back.

Spread it in a ladder of T-bills, live off interest. Never spend the principal

Move to a quiet spot in Atlantic Canada maybe NB or NS. Build a log cabin on 10 acres and think about starting an electronics business.

what kind of rich. if Dumb Musk rich, I am funding every election candidate that is anti-Israel in Foreign Policy, cares about making laws to make life easier for the average American and lobbying to impeach most of the current Supreme Court whilst also funding ADs to push class first candidates through a superPAC cos apparently US citizens over 45 vote solely based on ADs.

Just talked to my son about this tonight. We agree we would buy back the lake place my dementia ridden parents had stolen from them by a developer. The place was worth 5 million 20 years ago. The guy paid them 250,000. We hired an elder lawyer, but we could not do anything about it. It’s been sold a couple of times, but we want it back and the only way we’ll get it is to win the lottery.
ETA when my parents realized what they had done by accepting such a lowball offer, even in their cognitive decline, they were devastated. The man told them their children didn’t want the place and that his price was very generous. He literally tricked them. It created such complicated pain in our family.

Fully pay off my dad's house then use the remaining funds to start a charity and focus on helping the impoverished, building houses for the homeless, feeding the poor, buying toys for families that cannot afford them for Christmas, if I am suddenly rich, I'd do everything in my power to get rid of the money while helping as many people as I can. When I run out, I'll just get a normal job and live a simple life again.

Buy a mattress that costs more than my first car, then sleep in until noon out of principle. Rich people don't set alarms that's the whole point
