Let's face it: ANYONE who starts a statement with "I'm not _______, but..." is probably ________. It's like saying "I'm only joking/kidding" when you say something objectionable - it's an attempt to negate or deny bad behavior so you can get away with it. No, you're being an asshole and should be called out on it.
