By the time this is built, it will be short staffed and over crowded waiting rooms.
I'm still excited, it's something. But damn.. a little too late.

I went on Saturday evening and it took 3 hours. Not bad all things considered, last time before that was 3 years ago in the morning and that was like your experience, maybe 10 mins of waiting

Eww... Why is it a Faith-Based and a Private Company? Why isn't AHS just giving Airdrie a Hospital. I mean Medicine Hat, Red Deer, Fort Mac, Devon (pop 6,965) and Leduc have their AHS run hospitals..

I suspect the Vatican is paying at least a small portion, they pay for all kinds of strange things across Canada like the majority of small Québec local (secular) festivals, Small town community renovations to public buildings, and lots of local Filipino community events there in YYC to name a few weird things.
Also Catholic Health institutions and outreach programs/companies are very rarely for-profit. I’d rather have this than not have this if it weren’t to have happened if it did not have to have Catholic involvement. Though in my ideal world this place would be secular.
As for why doesn’t Airdrie have a hospital? It’s because distance wise we’re functionally a neighbourhood in Calgary and they want us to use Calgarian facilities instead. Somebody in small towns like Didsbury have to have one because that distance to a major hospital would result in a lot of people dying on the ambulance ride there. Why olds next door had one though is beyond me. I do 100% believe we deserve a hospital of our own for our size though

Olds is 15 minutes away from Didsbury and significantly larger, especially when you factor in the College. It makes sense for Olds to have a hospital. It doesn’t make sense for Didsbury to also have one.

Cool. When is the hospital coming? When is more transit coming? Schools? Or are they making way for another new community? The traffic here in the last few years has become crazy. Cars, cars and more cars.

Unfortunately, Airdrie population needs any kind of healthcare center badly, a city of almost 100,000 with no hospital......... they will take anything they can get and the UCP knows it.

I mean I’ll take it, also (I might have miss interpreted the last part of your comment) Prairie Conservatives/North American Right Wing have always had a hatred/distain for Catholics and there institutions, so I really doubt this is some hidden agenda to force a religious (Catholic) ran medical care facility.
I would rather it didn’t have anything to do with the Vatican, but I’d rather have it than not. Maybe my own Catholic upbringing (I’m non practicing as an adult) has desensitized me to this though?

It will be crowded serving northern calgary as it will be the closest emergency if nothing opens up there.

Faith-based health care? Gross.
