Something feels wrong at petrol pumps in Delhi-NCR — need your opinion
For the past few months, I’ve noticed something strange at multiple petrol pumps in Delhi-NCR, including both Indian Oil and Bharat Petroleum outlets.
For example, I ask them to fill ₹500 worth of petrol and specifically tell them to use the auto-cut. When the meter reaches ₹500, the attendant immediately stops the dispensing. However, I notice that some petrol is still left in the hose/nozzle, so I’m not sure whether the full amount actually reaches my tank.
When I question them "Ki bhaiya mene aapko Auto cut me krne ko bola tha", they usually say, “Auto-cut kaam nahi krta hai" or “yeh toh mere rozz ka kaam hai yaha matt gyan de." If I ask them to properly check it, some attendants get defensive and say that their supervisor has instructed them to do it this way.
I’m not claiming every pump is doing this intentionally, but after seeing the same thing at multiple pumps, I’m genuinely confused.
Has anyone else experienced this in Delhi-NCR? Is this normal because of the petrol remaining in the hose, or could this actually result in short delivery?
Also, if this is a genuine issue, what is the proper way to complain/report it so that the pump can actually be inspected?
