A market worker with Thai Sak Yant Tattoos at Pak Khlong Talat, Bangkok’s flower market beside the Chao Phraya River. On his back are a Ruesi hermit’s head on the left, representing wisdom and respect for teachers; Phra Pidta in the center, covering its eyes and symbolizing restraint of the senses and protection; and Suea Liao Lang, the tiger looking back, on the right, associated with strength, authority, protection, and attracting goodwill and favor. On his neck is Ha Taew, the five-row yantra, arranged horizontally and traditionally associated with protection, good fortune, and goodwill.

The bodhi tree, ต้นโพธิ์ (ton pho), Ficus religiosa, is associated with the Buddha’s enlightenment, and broken sacred objects are often left in sacred places rather than discarded like trash.
