Does Anthropic or OpenAI say much about privacy? I'm pretty sure they dont really care about that.

I don't think any of the big guys have ever made claims about your chat contents being private. People these days just seem to assume if something isn't publicly visible (discord DM's are another example) that it's "private".

Yeah I think you should assume nothing you do is private unless you take steps to protect it. Especially from a company like anthropic.

It’s an opt-in feature that is by default on in some countries like the US not in Europe tho, you can allow Claude to use your chats as training data. Whether they are not using it when you opt out is a different question, hopefully.

There’s a privacy option on ChatGPT about helping bettering the system kind of thing that give them the right to use your communication for training the model, and of course it is defaulted to yes. Now if they truly do not use the chat session after its been disabled … I guess there’s no way to know..

I didn't read their privacy policy myself, but I watched the entire video about Claude on Privacy Policy Explained (link, it includes a full reading of their Privacy Policy).

IIrc, they do say that there are a number of options to increase privacy for your chats and make them less likely to be stored, used as training data and sold. However they very specifically call out that all of those are ignored if Claude flags your messages as violating their usage policy and that they will report you to the police if they believe your messages require it.
