Castle was open going back door.  Could have scored off of a good pass.  But it looks like Towns tipped it?

Yup. Towns tipped it.

Clock should have started as soon as Towns touched it.

I don’t think the clock operator/the refs noticed, which I can’t blame them considering I had no idea until two hours afterward

Would they have taken a review if castle made the layup? To check if Towns touched it and if there was a shot clock violation

Yes, you can’t get that wrong in this situation

Oh but you know they would have

AI tells me this: "Because the clock operator relies on seeing the touch before pushing the button, a tiny fraction of a second inevitably elapses. If an inbounds play takes place and a player immediately catches and shoots in, say, 0.5 seconds, but the clock only shows 0.2 seconds remaining when it expires, referees can use instant replay to determine if the ball was released before the actual, elapsed time ran out."

Fuck AI

I think from KAT’s fingertips to Castle was almost a second. The ball was high up. It would definitely be a violation cause ainnoway castle could realistically catch and shoots in 0.2-0.4s

Another mitch fkn dumbfuck decision. Why have Harper inbound.

Who else should have? It's not like there were any taller guys on the court and you can't have Wemby inbound it with that little time left.

Harrison Barnes?

2

u/SnooChipmunks469 Knicks Jun 11 '26

He's like an inch taller and Harper had been playing well all game.

3

u/Selfishly Knicks Jun 11 '26

Why not? The plan they drew had him standing off at the 3 lmao not like he was part of it

3

u/SnooChipmunks469 Knicks Jun 11 '26

He still has immense gravity when he's on the court. Him standing there is going to lead to multiple Knicks worrying about where he's going.

What the hell are you talking about

Harper is like the best player on the Spurs, like someone should inbound to him and let him have the game winning shot. I don’t understand Mitch’s apparent disrespect for him.

Best passer

you gonna trot out mason plumlee to inbound it? cmon man

u/aggiefranchise Spurs Jun 11 '26

Actually yeah, or Kelly. They have a better sight line and that free’s up Harper to get open for a check down inbound pass.

Yeah there wasnt even time left for a shot if they had gotten one off it would have been waved on review (1.3 ish seconds between the tip and the gather).

Yeah I wanted to see another angle, I was confused by the pass... looked like things could've ended differently.

This play is actually insanely good. Like if that’s a good pass and no tip the spurs probably win.

u/SilveryDeath Jun 11 '26

When it was in the air live it looked like he was going to have an easy shot going at the basket with the ball coming right to him. Watching it back Towns 100% tipped it.

u/Kurukato123 Jun 11 '26

I think that’s it. I hope that was a tipped off pass though. No way you undershoot a lob with a wide open opportunity with Castle

Yeah that was genuinely scary at the end for the Knicks.
