Players Only Mookie Betts will skip White House visit, citing desire to spend time with family instead. "If I do [go], people are gonna hate me. If I don't, people are gonna hate me," he said. "So instead of trying to make everyone else happy, I'm gonna think about myself and my family."

He went last year this just a cop out cause it’d be even more controversial to go now. Kike has vocally said he doesn’t support this administration and won’t go this year.

Last year the administration was at the height of its power and taking very aggressive action on immigrants, both illegal and legal. At stake were visas of foreign players, not just in the Dodgers org, but in all of the majors and minors. The pressure to go without making noise was immense and came down from Manfred’s office and all of ownership to appease a toddler with zero restraint in exercising his power and not rock the boat unnecessarily.

The world’s not that simple, as much as r/politics would have you believe.
