Getting Started My girlfriend recently became interested in diy tech and her bday is coming up, so I want to get her setup with everything she’ll need to start building on her own. This kit is amazing, and I also bought her a giga r1 WiFi and a basic iron. Anything else I should consider adding?

My girlfriend recently became interested in building electronics after working on a few projects with me, so I decided to set her up with everything she’ll need to start learning.

She’s definitely a beginner but also really smart so I have no doubt that she’ll thoroughly figure this out. I taught her to solder for the first time a few days ago and I was blown away by how quickly she got proficient at it.

This kit was only 60 after tax and will be fantastic for her. I was so impressed by it that I even bought myself one for her birthday. It’s got a ton of good stuff for a reasonable price. The giga and iron should be coming in tomorrow.

I just want to make sure that I have everything she’ll need as I don’t want her to have to buy anything. If you guys have any additional ideas, please let me know and thank you.

Ive had this thing for a few years and have been frankly intimidated on getting started, and I don’t know where exactly to find a project, especially one that doesn’t require me to go buy more pieces. im trying to find a new hobby to focus on because frankly my brains been a bit chaotic,

Why did this connector come with an Arduino kit if 9V batteries are not capable of supplying more than 50mA, and the Arduino alone already uses 50 to 100mA?

My starter kit arrived at 8pm last night. I woke up at 6am this morning to start learning and had a beautiful sunrise come up as I got the RGB LED functioning. This is the beginning!

Getting Started Just got my first Arduino Uno kit — which should I learn first, C or C++?

Hey everyone!

I just got myself an Arduino Uno starter kit and installed the Arduino IDE — excited to get into electronics and programming.

I've actually never studied programming before, so I wanted to ask: which language do I need to learn to program the Arduino properly — C or C++? Or is it more of a mix specific to Arduino?

Also, if anyone has good video tutorials or YouTube playlists they'd recommend for learning C/C++ or Arduino from scratch ., (ideally beginner-friendly), I'd really appreciate it. I want to build a solid foundation before jumping into bigger projects.

Thanks in advance!

P.S i have no choice but to use Temu, because ali express takes ungodly amount of time to deliver and Amazon acts like I don't even exist.

Getting Started Help! Is this a beginner’s arduino kit suitable for a 14m boy?

Hello!

I am 16f with no background in coding, electronics, etc. like nothing — I’m very into humanities, history, and things like that instead lol. My little brother’s birthday (he is turning 14) is coming up, and I was thinking of what to get him. He is very into math, science, and engineering, and I thought that maybe I could help him foster that interest through an arduino kit. The thing is I am very overwhelmed and not sure where to start.

Firstly, I don’t even know if 14 is too young an age to be working on arduino kits. Are they very complex? My brother is very intelligent and handy but I don’t want to give him a gift that’s too difficult for his age.

Secondly, if they are appropriate for his age, any recommendations for a good starting arduino kit? He doesn’t have a coding background (I was hoping this could help him learn lol) but he’s a quick learner.

Thank you guys so much!

Look what I made! I designed a shake-to-roll electronic dice kit to teach myself (and others) SMD soldering

Hey everyone,

I've been working on Dicy – a small electronic dice you solder together yourself. Shake it, and 7 LEDs light up to show a random number (1–6), powered by an ATtiny13A and a coin cell battery.

I built it mainly as a beginner-friendly SMD soldering project – simple enough for a first attempt, but with enough components (IC, resistors, LEDs, vibration sensor) to actually learn something. There's a step-by-step soldering guide with photos for each part.

Some details if you're curious:

  • ATtiny13A running custom firmware, charlieplexed LEDs to save pins
  • Vibration sensor for shake detection, deep sleep in between (~µA range) for long battery life
  • 3D-printable case, free STL

Happy to answer questions about the design, firmware, or soldering process! Let me know if anyone wants more details on where to get the kit.

Kits for Engineering Class - need to order ASAP

Hi all,

I am a high school STEM teacher who is unfortunately deeply lacking in personal STEM experience (I was a math teacher, I'm great at algebra 1...). I teach at an alternative school for wayward children. I'm hoping to have some projects that are relevant, can allow for some creativity for the kids who get into it, but hopefully not too complicated - low floor, high ceiling.

The problem: I have a budget that I need to spend ASAP - I need a list in the next couple of hours.

Arduino kits seem like a potential option. I'm pretty confident in my ability to figure things out if I have the right materials. I just don't have enough time to do a deep dive on kits right now.

I'd love ~6 kits, ballpark $500. Would the Starter Kit R4 Classroom Pack be a good choice - or is there a better direction?

Thanks for your help!

Getting Started Best arduino (or not) starter kit to buy

I have knowledge of circuits and a bunch of math, but I haven't built any of my own projects. I'm looking to buy some hardware to start building some projects. Any part recommendations?

Edit: I've ordered this from amazon https://www.amazon.com/ELEGOO-Project-Tutorial-Controller-Projects/dp/B01D8KOZF4?psc=1
