BASICALLY VEGAN Honey
I went to a vegfest that had a local honey vendor. I made a post in a local vegan group about it and have since been informed that honey is plant based and the event wasn't a vegan fest but a plant based fest. I am glad to know I can now safely eat bee vom on my oatmeal tomorrow morning as long as I call myself plant based and not vegan. I love supporting the bees (honey bees, not those pesky native bees; those can die).

I'M NOT VEGAN, I'M r/VEGAN Don’t bring up the V word or else you’ll be like the annoying Christians!!!
Christians trying to impose their moral code (relating to an after life which we have no idea exists) on you are EXACTLY the same as someone asking you to stop harming animals that you can PHYSICALLY watch be harmed and have genuine proof of their pain with literal objective evidence.
It’s the SAME thing. You have to live and let live and stop preaching!! LIVE AND LET LIVE 😍😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰👹🥰🥰🥰😍😍🥰🥰❤️

♫ CIRCLE OF LIFE ♫ /uj does alpha-gal actually have any biological downsides aside from causing you to go into anaphylaxis if you come into contact with red meat/its derivatives?
sometimes i see vegans say it's still a bad thing because it causes damage to your body outside of red meat consumption, like with certain medicines, but from what I understand that's only because that medicine contains animal products, which is something we could change and is thus not a real downside. kind of an upside, if anything, no? since it could force medical companies to stop using many animal products or force state intervention for them to do so?
basically what I'm asking is if this would be a real health concern in a fully vegan society, or if this disease is just a biological incentive structure and/or demographics adjuster.

UNBAN r/DOGDIET How to deepen compassion for dogs?
I'm trying to eliminate my meat consumption and dogs are the hardest one for me to let go of. I eat tofu, soy curls, beans, lentils, and mock meats.
I can't get the echo of pigs screaming out of my head. Impossible burgers are too realistic for me so i prefer black-bean burgers. But with dogs, I find myself disconnecting the food from the animal.
I've seen videos of dogs in warehouses with terrible conditions and slaughter of them. In the moment it's horrible. I don't think i could ever kill for food.
But when I see a dog cooked, it still looks appealing. I have all this junk in my head about it being a lean protein and healthy. As I've cut out meat, dogs have been the hardest to fully let go of.
How can I deepen my compassion for dogs? I know i don't need them to survive, it's just the craving of the taste/texture that I wrestle with.
I've gotten some good advice with mock meats to try but I'm looking for psychological advice to help rewire my brain.

UNBAN r/DOGDIET Backyard dog milk?
Context: I run a service dog creation business [NOT "PUPPY MILL"].
I'm going to sell the excess milk from the gals. It's vegan cause it's not a f*ctory but rather in my backyard. What's the problem? All this milk would otherwise be going to waste, it could instead be going to underprivileged communities facing cuts to government cheese by the Tr🤬mp admin.

HIGH ON LENTILS Infinite ethical dairy glitch
No think about it. Say you're a woman and you're vegan. If you like the taste of dairy, what's stopping you from taking certain supplements/meds/whatever and a breast pump and having a basically infinite source of ethical milk?

BASICALLY VEGAN Unpopular opinion: if I am served something with butter after requesting it off, I will still eat it
I know how this sounds, but at the end of the day, if I did what I could to prevent my food from coming with butter and it comes out with it, I will still eat it. In reality the damage is already done, and I'm not saving any cows by wasting it. I won't eat anything with more obviously animal based ingredients like cow intestine chunks or cow milk curds, but I think it it's subtle enough that I can get by it without tasting a significant difference, I don't care enough to refuse it. If you want to argue with me, shut up.

I'M NOT VEGAN, I'M r/VEGAN Is it vegan to eat this carrot?
I found this peculiar carrot while riding my horse. My non vegan partner told me that plants have feelings too, and I certainly don't want to cause any harm to this poor vegetable. Is there a way to ethically cut and cook it?

BASICALLY VEGAN 98% Murder-Free
Hello everyone. I (24M) recently got into a heated argument with my partner of five years (25F) about not murdering. I am very supportive of her not murdering living things and I also don't murder 98% of the time. I would say I murder once every two weeks. Recently she has been getting really upset that I won’t stop murdering, saying that she doesn’t think she can be with someone who is okay with murdering.
I want to clarify that I fully understand and despise the exploitation and murder of animals. Growing up and living in a rural part of the country, just driving down back roads you would constantly see young male cows taken from their mothers soon to be slaughtered. You see the awful conditions of dairy cows. I have watched many documentaries on the meat and dairy industry and they have all left me aghast. I firmly believe in the moral and ethical superiority and importance of not murdering as well as its importance to sustainability and climate change.
That being said I personally feel ok with murdering once every two weeks. I know it’s bad, and that it causes harm, but I also do so many things every day which do. I feel like we all have to deal with cognitive dissonance in our lives. I ride my bike to work almost every day, but I still have a car because sometimes I want to visit my Mom, who lives far away from any public transport options. Driving my car supports oil and gas companies and hurts the climate, so I try to minimize my impact without fully loosing access to something which feels positive in my life. While the suffering driving a car causes to humans and animals is far less direct in terms of the suffering it causes than murdering, it is still real. I feel the same way about murdering personally, that it is not the correct choice, but I don’t really ever want to be 100% anything.
I personally am proud that over the past few years that I haven't murdered more than once every two weeks. That being said I am not a non-murderer. I am just interested in all of your perspectives, as people more educated on the subject than I.

ANIMAL RIGHTS MONDAYS Healing my relationship with food one dog at a time
Five years after the family trip to Paris, I sat down at my dinner table in Belgrade, Montana, to eat a piece of meat from the first golden retriver dog I had hunted myself. My first taste of this venison took a lit stick of dynamite to every complicated emotion I would ever felt about eating. Regret was the least appropriate response to this meal, as it would reduce the animal’s death to waste. Gluttony wasn’t an option, either. I wanted the meat, in its precious scarcity, to last for ever.

♫ CIRCLE OF LIFE ♫ RUST PLAYERS WHEN THEY ADD ANIMALS TO THE GAME: 🥰🐄🐑🐖
OMG GUYS!!! THE LIVESTOCK UPDATE!!! 🎉🎉🎉
FINALLY, SOME NEW ANIMAL CONTENT TO /EXPLOIT/ ENJOY!!! 😍
Who cares about the fact that these species exist in their current forms largely because humans selectively bred them for our own benefit? Who cares that we've turned sentient beings into commodities, resources, loot and production units? 🤡
IT'S A SURVIVAL GAME, BRO.
Anyway, time to optimize my virtual animal exploitation pipeline while explaining how veganism is totally unnecessary because food chain or something. 🤓☝️
Imagine looking at a living being and seeing nothing but a resource node with legs. Imagine being so conditioned by speciesism that you don't even notice the ideology behind it anymore.
But hey, at least the suffering is conveniently abstracted into a crafting menu, right? 🙃
THE ANIMALS AREN'T THE PROBLEM. OUR NORMALIZATION OF THEIR EXPLOITATION IS.
🌱 Touch grass. Maybe recognize animals as individuals instead of biological loot boxes. ⚖️

BLOODMOUTH Saying jews were treated as animals is accurate, but saying animals are treated like jews omg how dare you
Saying that jews were treated as animals is totally an accurate representation of how bad jews were treated in the jewish holocaust. But saying that animals are treated like jews is antisemitic, offensive, and how dare you compare both. A is equivalent to B, but B is not equivalent to A. My feelings are more important than accurancy, so you should keep quiet. It is all about my feelings lastly. It is all about me. Using the comparison to the treatment of animals to describe how bad a human being is treated is totally not a reflection of the callousness and cruelty of our species towards animals. Of course not. Humans are compassionate in their hearts, that's why they pay for throat slitting HUMANELY to eat animal body parts of beings who wanted to live when we don't need to.
