Discussion She almost ruined a proposal.

This was at Crescent Bay Point Park, which allows people to book it special occasions.

Nothing annoys racists more than seeing black and brown people just being happy.

As someone who grew up in WASP culture, I think it’s because WASP culture is very image based. People are so concerned about what image they project to others they can’t actually experience joy, especially as a group, so they are jealous of the cultures that can.

HOW RIGHT YOU ARE! I just want to add to your comment

The person I know who says stuff like "they don't know how to act in public" is one of the LOUDEST people i've ever met. He also gets upset if you ask him to lower his voice in public or indoors. Same person who will complain about non whites "dressing ghetto" but he himself is wearing a wife-beater and basketball shorts. Same person who enjoys just sitting on a bench in the local park but will comment on groups of non-whites doing the same thing with statements like "they must not have a home to be in, they are trying to turn the park into their living room."

The first time I heard stuff like this growing up I was a child and didn't really understand what the complaints were anyway. After a while you start to realize that the stuff this adult is complaining about doesn't actually seem that different, from what anyone else is doing, but you notice that all the people being referred to look the same. Then sometimes you see white people doing those same things and you comment to this person and they just say "oh, kids will be kids!" or "they are just using the public space" or "we were all young once, whatcha gonna do about it?"

Eventually you realize what's going on and when you see minorities around this family member you think to yourself "I wonder what excuse he's going to come up with this time to complain about these people who are just minding their own business."
