There was a really bad storm a couple weeks ago and it took out a lot of power. It was in the news for the first couple days, then people moved on. If you’re not in the area, it’s not surprising to not have heard. Some like over half a million people without power for days.

Even outside of gary, people are still without power almost 2 weeks later. There was three different bad storms, but the one on Tuesday was the worst for sure. I had no power for a full week and had to check into a hotel to get stable power and internet. It was terrifying to drive through Lake County, it was just decimated in so many areas. Scary stuff

All you people really have no idea…. The entitlement that surrounds the typical American is so gross and it should be an eye opener. I’m an American but I’ve spent YEARS AND YEARS of my life deployed to combat zones all over the world. I’ve lived in 3dd world countries and have seen how people live their lives and their communities.

What I think I’m getting at is how little life is valued all over the world. But here… here in the US. It feels like people believe tomorrow is promised. That “their rights as citizens’ afford them this misunderstood safety or theirs a misconception on what their life needs to be everyday. And really… all of that just means that everyone is walking around in their own bubble wrap.

People have no idea how little life means everywhere else but here. And WiFi and having power… and the outrage… don’t get me wrong. Having all of that and the suddenly not having it is a major change. I get it.

But the way you said “it was scary” lol. What you described was a regular day in 75% of the world.
And it’s true.. Americans are so unbelievably underprepared for even the smallest of things to happen. To the point… I feel that if something truly big were to happen… I believe close to 50% of our population could be dead in a matter of months.

Driving through a county decimated by a tornado shouldn't be considered scary? Seeing houses totaled shouldn't be scary? Get off the high horse, buddy. Get over yourself

Awww trigger alert for the person who thinks not having WiFi is scary everyone lol.

If my high horse is knowing that I’ll always be the hunter and you’re the prey in those situations… I’m fine where I am.

Power outages leave people without running medical equipment, without way to keep prescription medications in the fridge. Without ways to do their jobs and earn their income. It creates dangerous environments where basic security doesn’t work. Prevents the cooling system in heatwaves causing more chance of medical emergencies.

There much more to it than “oh it’s so horrible I can’t look at my memes”. And you’re just a self righteous jackass who thinks he is a tough guy. You lack empathy and critical thinking for what the real effects are. The vast majority of people are not prepared for living off the grid for weeks on end.

Such a fragile ego you have to resort to violence as your only recourse. Sounds like a sad existence to me.

Potato vs potatoo… resort vs needs to fulfill the urge. Semantics if you ask me.

Listen I get it…. Me calling you a soft little baby back bitch… that hurts. It’s going to affect your ego. I get it.

I guess I’m able to find happiness in knowing you and your type are the ones who simply won’t make it when it does happen. God forbid the country has a mass event and the effects on our very life as we know it change… I will say people like you just don’t stand a chance.

Makes me hopeful 😁

There was an area of SE Pennsylvania that was hit by a tornado and flooding. They were out of power for almost two weeks due to the heavy amount of tree damage. It's possible in 2026.

lol yea, im in the middle of it, i didn't have power for a solid week, hundreds of articles were written about it, the media was all over it, the person we're replying to is "infuriated" that news isn't spoon fed into his mouth like a choo choo train.

I'm so sick of the claim , the media has it's problems, but it's not a monolith. Every time I see someone say "the media isn't covering y".....I Google y and find thousands of times the media covered it .
