Americans gotta learn to protest and vote.. handed their country over to the oligarchs for penny’s on the dollar, gonna be the next USSR in a decade if they don’t straighten up.

I’d care less if they didn’t have so much influence and were trying to pull democratic nations down with them.. only bright side is the world has learned not to intrust any single nation with so much influence and control.

America exists because of French support. It's about time they learned a few things about their national sports (rioting and striking(

People really don't understand how big of an effect the sprawl has on this wasteland.

Yeah they think people in NY can sync up with people in LA, and that the government wouldn't use airstrikes and tanks against anything real.

Considering there's already been an airstrike in/on a major US city, I fully believe we'd be under martial law in a second.

They were training the military in urban warfare just a few months ago in Pasadena CA. Didn’t get city permission or permits. Didn’t inform the residents until a few hours before. Blackhawks tanks, artillery rounds, 50 cals popping off all night long. Because a private citizen billionaire owns the closed old hospital and they did it on private property.

Tiananmen Square wasn't a warning for the Chinese, it was foreshadowing for Americans.

The US government has already dropped bombs on US citizens in a major US city.

Just hearing of this and already I'm not ready to MOVE on.

It's literally 1985.

There is definitely a degree of apathy as well especially among the younger generations who usually bring the energy, ive been to a decent number of protests and there is hardly any gen z there.

People will complain that no one does anything and then not show up to do anything.

Revolutions have to grow from something

I'm a big Heartstopper fan, but I had to laugh at a plot point towards the end of the series. The two main characters are a bit distraught because one will be going off to college soon, and it's so far away, a whole three hours from London to Leeds. Like, I can drive three hours & still be in my home state. Non Americans just have no idea how massive the US is.

Yeah okay but in France the cops aren't foaming at the mouth to shoot and kill people

American police are so cowardly they'll sit back and let kids get slaughtered because they're scared they might get shot bh a single gunman

Imagine how they'll be against a whole crowd of rioters. Especially if they're white

America added looting . Just makes it far more interesting. Let's loot everybody.

You have to understand that Americans are exceptional and above all that.

working americans need to be the next USSR by seizing control of the state and purging the aristocracy

-7

u/derthemovie042 Aug 22 '26

Yeah because that worked so well before that the Russians completely abandoned it by 1991, along with the other countries of the Soviet bloc.
For the record, you'd still have an aristocracy, they would just change their title to Party Members that all the poor slobs have no way of getting into.

Yeah sorry, but I lived in one of the countries that before ‘89 was under USSR influence, but in spite of the fact that of course not everything was great - yes, you had to follow party line (which is not that different in modern USA; try saying anything critical about a certain country that likes to do genozides paid by US tax dollars) - but overall life quality there was lightyears better than it seems to be for people like this woman in that video in current USA.

My parents absolutely never ever had to worry about not having something as basic as freaking electricity or water, and food deserts were not a thing (even though yes, you could not buy West products; big so what!?); not even mentioning that nobody had to worry about access to healthcare (you are sick, you go to the doctor and get meds) and university was free, even if the party could sometimes force you to study things that you originally did not want to (also honestly big so what, given that in modern day US people like this woman or her kids likely won’t have access to higher education at all).

You're not fooling anyone. You act like rolling blackouts never happened, long lines to the grocery store just to buy cooking oil, or a lot of poor people either starving or thrown inside the Gulags.
Then your folks moved to the US, because why? Too much awesomeness for the family to handle? All the people dying to get into West Germany because Soviet life was too good?

Russia has been ruled by an oligarchy of the 1% for a Millenia. USSR just used to be the flavor of the month.

What’s voting got to do with it? I thought the election was stolen.

1

u/RightZer0s Aug 22 '26

The right uses the left protesting as weapons against them... The more the left protests the more authoritarian the right gets and more and more people are on with it.

-8

u/norsak3 Aug 22 '26

"Just go vote" is honestly terrible advice

13

u/Dazzling-Finding-602 Aug 22 '26

Not voting is a vote for the opposition.

2

u/norsak3 Aug 22 '26

I didn't say don't vote. I'm saying "if you want the world to get better you just have to vote" is a naive thing to say. Voting is vital, yes, but checking a box on a ballot every 4 years won't make society bend toward justice.

0

u/Dazzling-Finding-602 Aug 22 '26

Try rereading the comment you are responding to because it in no way implied that just voting would better society. Quite the opposite, but nice backtracking.

2

u/wattro Aug 22 '26

The least you could do is vote well
