Right?  what police department has the time to respond to “a guy is working out my gym and won’t leave.”

486

u/Deep_shot Jul 27 '26

"Did you ask him to leave?"

"No."

380

u/this_place_suuucks Jul 27 '26

"Is he black? If he's black, we'll send some guys over immediately to escalate him."

3

u/Capital_Past69 Jul 27 '26

Damn you are 1000% correct

-1

u/DentistThese9696 Jul 27 '26

Just no. Any person the business as wanting to leave the cops have to enforce it. It has nothing to do with ethnicity. You can clearly see the cop is annoyed by this stupidity as well.

2

u/this_place_suuucks Jul 27 '26

Except in the video, and in this very thread of comments you've decided to disgrace, the business had not asked him to leave until the last ~10 seconds.

0

u/DentistThese9696 Jul 27 '26

And I’m sure that’s not what the business told the cops. Either way, they have to leave the business if the business wants them to. That’s the law. It’s not up to the cop at that point. He has to enforce it.

1

u/this_place_suuucks Jul 27 '26

And I’m sure that’s not what the business told the cops.

You're only arguing with yourself because nobody here is debating trespassing, which the cops didn't say anything about either.

He asked the staff multiple times if they were asking him to leave and they were silent until the very end of the video.

Now share with us why you are so intent on pushing your own assumed agenda instead of addressing what actually happened.

1

u/DentistThese9696 Jul 27 '26

No agenda other than pointing out the reality of the law. The cop listened to both sides. And at the very end the business finally stated they wanted the man to leave at which point the cop informed the man he needed to leave. Pretty standard and this happened thousands of times across the county every day. Nothing of note happened in this video other than a business being pretty crappy on how it treats its patrons.

1

u/this_place_suuucks Jul 28 '26

No agenda other than pointing out the reality of the law.

Please quote where anyone is arguing against what "the law" is.

And at the very end the business finally stated they wanted the man to leave at which point the cop informed the man he needed to leave.

This entire chain of comments is about how the bus called the cops without telling the guy he needed to leave. How is it so difficult for you to follow that?

Pretty standard and this happened thousands of times across the county every day.

I don't care for useless, irrelevant hyperbole.

Nothing of note happened in this video other than a business being pretty crappy on how it treats its patrons.

Wow, welcome to the conversation. Finally. But also, if the business didn't tresspass the guy, why did the cops show up? Now circle aaaaaaall the way back to the top of this thread, keeping in mind all of this fascinating new information you've gathered on your arduous journey to here.

Notice how nobody in the reply chain was talking about race until you.

-34

u/LastAccountBender Jul 27 '26

Didn’t have to scroll far to find that one guy.

-4

u/IcyGarage5767 Jul 27 '26

I guess that was implied by them declining to accept his own ID? So based on that he offered to use his ID, they said no, and he came in anyway?

4

u/jonniezombie Jul 27 '26

No they wouldn't let his son in with no id. The guy is a member with an id they accepted. His son left, the guy stayed to work out but asked to see the manager. Manager called the cops instead.

3

u/IcyGarage5767 Jul 27 '26

Ah okay. Just saw his son at the start so kinda assumed that was from the same session. Guess he…. found another clip of his son working out and put it in?

According to other comments, the front desk told him they could not accept the school ID for his son. He asked to speak to a manager and was told the manager was busy. So he told the front desk folks to send the manager over to talk when he wasn't busy. The guy goes and starts a workout with his son. Instead of being a manager and speaking to the customer, the manager called the cops.

"how black is he?"

"Black, AND jacked."

"We're on our way."

38

u/Stevesegallbladder Jul 27 '26

"Oh he has a son too so bring back up."

"How old does he look?"

"Not sure but he's definitely a minor"

"Dear God... the SWAT team is an hour out but we'll see what we can do."

7

u/Ghost_with_no_name Jul 27 '26

“His son is a minor”

“All units, 2 heavily armed black men at Crunch Fitness! Fire at will!”

0

u/IlIlllIIIIlIllllllll Jul 27 '26

I bet thats why uvalde took so long, police were too busy harassing minorities

0

u/bum_thumper Jul 27 '26

Lol tbf, it really looked like the cop did not want anything to do with this situation. You could tell he hated having to kick the guy out. Felt like the cop felt bad for the dad and his son. That big sigh he has at the beginning of the video is just "I know this sucks dude, but I have to do this bc they called us."

1

u/Frosty-Tennis-1687 Jul 27 '26

Man it's 2026 and Big Dick Randy coming back
And on Halloween night he gon' be looking for a snack
If you see that dude comin', better run like you in track
He a big scary dude, man he seven foot and black

39

u/Rymnarr Jul 27 '26

All of them apparently because they always seem to stop everything and show up if a business calls.

20

u/ZeidLovesAI Jul 27 '26

It's almost like they just exist to protect property.

12

u/Known-Low-2637 Jul 27 '26

Just not personal property... Try calling them for a car break in...

9

u/KittenHeartsGirls Jul 27 '26

They won’t even look for your stolen car in my city. 😂

31

u/ThrownAway17Years Jul 27 '26

A department located in a mid sized suburb.

24

u/JJayC Jul 27 '26

Or anywhere in the south when dealing with a black person..

2

u/Exciting-Argument-67 Jul 27 '26

Not a ton of Phillies fans in the South, outside of retirees living in Clearwater.

6

u/thepoopatroopa Jul 27 '26

Don’t you know? Racism in America only happens in the South /s

2

u/Stevesegallbladder Jul 27 '26

Yeah, as a black person in the South there's definitely no shortage of racism here but some folk are delusional if they think this only happens in the South.

69

u/Remy_Jardin Jul 27 '26

"Sir, does this really need a police response?"

"He's black."

"On our way!"

8

u/Baeolophus_bicolor Jul 27 '26

funny, because when my car got stolen and I called the police, they wouldn’t even come out. i had a car. parked at my house. it disappeared. i wanted to report it stolen and also tell them who stole it. they wouldn’t come because “sounds like a civil matter”. landlord sold my car because she claims it was sitting unused for months (even though i had been driving it to work everyday).

but they’ll come out for this, and they know whose side to be on right away. the side of the corporation.

we need a second kind of law enforcement that actually helps people, since US police are only about protecting companies.

1

u/Equivalent-Sink4612 Jul 28 '26

Wow, your landlord sold your car??! Did you take her to small claims? Sorry that happened to you!

13

u/JJayC Jul 27 '26

what police department has the time to respond to “a guy is working out my gym and won’t leave.”

Clearly this department does..

14

u/contactdeparture Jul 27 '26

A guy who is a member of our gym is working out and his son, who is authorized as a guest to workout is also working out. We don’t want to accept the ID presented for the son though, because reasons…

3

u/OkKaleidoscope9554 Jul 27 '26 edited Jul 27 '26

Well, recently a swat team was dispatched to retrieve stolen Legos - but not the actual stolen Legos the first time they were reported stolen. So, a lot.

3

u/Loreki Jul 27 '26

Every single one, because protecting the value of property is their main mission.

3

u/Financial-Craft-1282 Jul 27 '26

This one did. All of them when it comes to black people.

1

u/WorldsWeakestMan Jul 27 '26

He’s just standing there, doing curls, menacingly…

https://giphy.com/gifs/Pl4PHOXVpPPDG

1

u/ChromosomeDonator Jul 27 '26

"There is a person trespassing on our gym."

Of course you call the cops on that? What are you even saying 😭

Regardless of why they declined to let him enter or accept their ID, it is still trespassing at that point.

u/AlterExpertise101 Jul 27 '26

Or recognize that not all teenagers have ID, so requiring one in the absence of its existence doesn't make sense. Especially when the member is the parent.

82

u/Thatguy468 Jul 27 '26

Police onl exist to serve corporate interests. Think about how little they do when your bike is stolen or your car gets hit by a driver that leaves the scene… and then think about how many times you’ve seen them protecting buildings, business’s, or resources while infringing on citizens constitutional rights.

24

u/the_vault-technician Jul 27 '26

Basically they called the cops because they wanted to enforce their corporate policy on them. Their completely made up, entirely flexible, policy

5

u/HelpMeOverHere Jul 27 '26

That the gentleman's contributions helped fund, even.

4

u/ItsStaaaaaaaaang Jul 27 '26

Right. Imagine if they had to call a private security firm and pay them to show up to deal with this. HQ would be livid. But thankfully for them their "private security" is paid for by tax paying US citizens instead and apparently they're all too willing to lick corporate boot.

3

u/Mando_Mustache Jul 27 '26

This is literally how the first modern police started in England in the 1800s.

Groups of shop keepers and merchants grouped together to share the cost of hiring security for deterrence and stolen goods recovery. Eventually they got tired of paying for it and convinced the London city government to take it over.

2

u/the_vault-technician Jul 27 '26

For sure. We need some form of law enforcement, it's obvious that without it society would be worse off. Situations like this are not what an armed officer should be present for, or even called.

The cop in the video almost came off like he was understanding, but the moment the man tried to explain and call these idiots out it was "now you're causing the problem". That's when I realized the officer knew the gym made a pointless call and was looking for any reason to take their side so he could kick the guy out and go about his day.

88

u/upny_roc Jul 27 '26

A large part of police origins were protecting corporate interests. From my experience, police usually have no problem enforcing things for the rich.

27

u/_autumnwhimsy Jul 27 '26

and another large part of their origin was slave patrols. classism and racism are heavily intertwined!

6

u/godzillasegundo Jul 27 '26

Capitalism is the progenitor of both

0

u/OhNoAnAmerican Jul 27 '26

Lmfaoooooo. I can’t imagine being this brainwashed holy shit. The fact that you think CAPITALISM was the “progenitor” of slavery. Jesus. We’re being beat down by a generation of broccoli haired fools who see a video on TikTok and think they now know everything

Hey comrade? Slavery has existed for many millennia longer than capitalism.

2

u/_autumnwhimsy Jul 27 '26

capitalism was 100% the progenitor of chattel slavery which, since we're talking about African Americans, is something you should have been able to infer without it being explicitly stated.

chattel slavery is inherently different from other forms of slavery because of that connection to capitalism -- treating slaves as property.

0

u/OhNoAnAmerican Jul 27 '26

Nobody mentioned chattel slavery, and I’m really not interested in your racist comparisons over which slaves had the worst. The claim that was made was that slavery and policing exist because of capitalism. Neither one is even remotely true.

1

u/godzillasegundo Jul 27 '26

Reading is fundamental. Try to keep up with the rest of the class.

Slave patrols were mentioned; not slavery as a whole. Slave patrols, which later became police departments, were invented in service of US slavery which was chattel slavery.

And race as a social construct didn't exist until US chattel slavery was created. Thus, race itself and racism is a byproduct of capitalism.

Acknowledging facts and logic isn't brainwashing. Perhaps you should engage your brain a bit more.

0

u/OhNoAnAmerican Jul 27 '26

“ if I take something that’s been occurring for thousands of years and give it a unique name for when it’s done by western nations i can then blame western institutions for it”

Racism, slavery, policing, all predate White people by many centuries

1

u/godzillasegundo Jul 27 '26 edited Jul 28 '26

Race didn't exist until the 1600s and was invented to put new world slaves in a perpetual underclass which *differed from every instance of slavery that ever existed until that point. When any institution, Western ones included does something novel, it gets a different name.

Edit: *typo (suffered)

0

u/OhNoAnAmerican Jul 27 '26

Blatantly historically incorrect

societies MILLENIA before the United States categorized people by ancestry, ethnicity, lineage, religion, and physical characteristics. Ancient Greeks, Romans, medieval Arabs, Chinese dynasties, and others all expressed forms of ethnocentrism and prejudice. The specific Black/White racial hierarchy that developed in the Atlantic slave trade was distinctive, but it wasn’t the invention of the very idea of race.

Like i said, you have some deep burning desire to blame literally everything on the West. You’ll lie about literally anything to win an online argument

1

u/godzillasegundo Jul 27 '26

It was. Differences in phenotypes were noted prior to the establishment of race but before this, a human was a human. Also, slavery wasn't a genetic, lifelong, inescapable reality before being codified as such by the laws establishing what race was in the 17th century New world.

You have some deep, burning desire to whitewash history to make your ancestors appear less maniacal than they were and to validate any undue status that you currently enjoy from the fruits of their crimes.

The truth doesn't cower from lies and you are a liar.

Furthermore, you have the Joseph Lozito subway attacker case. In the Lozito case, a police officer just watched guy get stabbed multiple times and did nothing, actually hid, but amazingly Lozito turned the tide and subdued the attacker. Lozito sued but lost, Scalia, Supreme Court justice at the time, was basically like if it was private property it would be different but because it’s not the police aren’t required to get involved. It sounds too crazy to be true but unfortunately it is. Furthermore, similar types of cases have basically ruled in a similar fashion.

2

u/name-classified Jul 27 '26

they'd easily throw away their lives to protect property than run into a school being shot up.

fuck the police

13

u/SmokedAlex Jul 27 '26

That’s what police is anyways. Corporate servants.

11

u/Strict-Carrot4783 Jul 27 '26

The #1 responsibility of the police is to protect property, and corporations and wealthy people own most of the property. No war but class war.

5

u/lateral303 Jul 27 '26

The police system in America was invented to protect corporations and their bullshit

1

u/bumblebeewrx Jul 27 '26

Actually a quick search says

“The origins of modern-day policing can be traced back to the "Slave Patrol" in the early 1700s, which was established to control enslaved people and prevent uprisings. Over time, local municipalities began forming police departments to enforce laws, including those related to racial segregation during the Jim Crow era.”

2

u/lateral303 Jul 27 '26

Right.... that's the 1700s version of protecting corporations and their "property" and interests.

But why stop at just a quick search?

If you read on you'll see that modern day police forces were formed to engage in union busting and the protection of corporate masters and their capital.

"The police are primarily there to protect business property first, and residential property second, not human interactions. If that were the case, they would fail miserably,” says Gary Potter, who is a professor at Eastern Kentucky University’s School of Justice Studies.

-1

u/bumblebeewrx Jul 27 '26

I stopped because that was the answer in regard to origin. Which was the statement you brought up.

2

u/lateral303 Jul 27 '26

And it was a correct statement that I had brought up.

-1

u/bumblebeewrx Jul 27 '26

No, it was a euphemism for what really took place. Although it may have evolved to what it is today, it is only right to acknowledge its disturbing past.

2

u/lateral303 Jul 27 '26

My statement wasn't a euphemism and it acknowledges the disturbing past.

5

u/jugdeesh Jul 27 '26

Correction, racist bullshit, they wouldn’t have done the same thing for a white dad and his son

2

u/Forward_Criticism_39 Jul 27 '26

is calling the cops over actually nothing considered "wasting the publics resources" or nah?

actually nothing, a situation where they simply were not required but still expected to show up

R/extremelymysteriousdownvoting for a common sentiment expressed?

2

u/MattTheRadarTechh Jul 27 '26

Wait how is this corporate bullshit?

The corporate policy worked, the manager went on some random power trip. This is just some poor douchebag with no life attacking a normal gym goer

1

u/facedown_titsup Jul 27 '26

Yet I feel like corporate bullshit always has the strongest reactions from them. Someone trying to get help because a stalker is harassing them? Sorry can’t help. But don’t you dare try to steal a pack of gum from a Walmart. Yay capitalism.

1

u/Really-E-Lee Jul 27 '26

Corporations should not have access to police period. They should be required by law to police themselves. Trillion+ dollar organizations that do not contribute to local communities should not have access to community benefits.

1

u/IrredeemableRight Jul 27 '26

the fact that police stays more than 5 seconds is insane.

1

u/Difficult_Coffee_335 Jul 27 '26

Naw, that's what they're for.

1

u/wytewydow Jul 27 '26

corporate bullshit is the reason we have police.
