Release Mayan Edms

Thumbnail github.com
1 Upvotes

Why ArchiveScanner?

Mayan EDMS is an enterprise-grade electronic document management system. However, capturing paper documents from desktop hardware scanners into Mayan usually requires separate scanning tools, saving intermediate files, and manually uploading them through the web interface.

ArchiveScanner bridges this gap:

Connects directly to local flatbed and ADF scanners via TWAIN / WIA using a portable NAPS2 engine.

Integrates seamlessly with Mayan EDMS REST API v4: creating document entries, populating metadata, and uploading PDF files in a single click.

Allows users to search the archive, view results, and download/open documents with a double-click.

Provides a clean, modern Qt6 desktop interface with customizable server connection settings.

✨ Features

Hardware Scanner Integration: Auto-detects connected scanner devices and scans multi-page documents directly into clean searchable PDFs.

Two-Step Mayan Upload: Fully handles Mayan v4's multi-step document creation (POST /api/v4/documents/) and file upload (POST /api/v4/documents/{id}/files/).

Flexible Server Settings: Easily configure your Mayan server IP/domain and port directly on the sign-in screen; automatically preserved in local settings.

Archive Search & Open: Instant search by document number, subject, or description with double-click download and launch.

Zero-Dependency Deployment: Bundles into a standalone executable with Inno Setup installer that requires no Python or system dependencies on client PCs.

Release I built a free offline PDF suite (open‑source)

Hi everyone,
I’ve been working on a small open‑source project called PDFuture — a fully offline PDF suite packed into a single lightweight .exe (58,3 MB)

It includes:
• Merge / Split
• Compress
• Rotate
• Search
• Redact / Obscure
• Convert Images ↔ PDF
• Bureaucracy Hub for common document tasks
• Available in 5 languages (EN, IT, DE, FR, ES)
• 100% private: no cloud, no tracking, no data sent anywhere

📥 Download (latest release):
https://github.com/LarioSan/PDFuture/releases/latest

🛠 Source code:
https://github.com/LarioSan/PDFuture

I built it because I needed a fast, offline, privacy‑friendly PDF tool for everyday tasks.
If you try it, I’d really appreciate any feedback or suggestions.

Thanks!

Looking for software PC Software like Digital Signage

I am using atm the Service of Optisigns for my two Displays in my Store to show Commercials (PDF, Videos) , but i think i can this by myself without paying.

Up until now, I’ve been using the Optisigns stick on one monitor and a small PC on the other.

Now, I’ve connected the PC to both monitors via HDMI using a splitter.

It’s still running with Optisigns for the time being.

Is there any local software—like a slideshow app or something similar—that could handle this? In other words, something to play a playlist consisting of PDF files, images, and videos?

Thanks for your help.

Looking for software LF Multi-state Lists

I'm looking for Windows task management/text/list software that contains
- Multi-state checkboxes. See related link
- Exportable to plain text (markdown is fine too) and print. - Allows user custom states and images (local svg or png).
- No webview. - GUI, not TUI/CLI
- Tagging is nice

Right now I use ObsidianMD and plain text on whatever quick note-taking program or spreadsheet I have but would like to use something smaller dedicated for lists, otherwise I might just dedicate a vault to one.

Looking for software A document editor that looks like Google Site ?

Heyah,

Quite a weird asking here. But I'd like to know if there's a tool that could work like Google Site.
I've used Google Site in a personal way to work on some documentation, with no intention to publish it as a public site.

But I like the render on the browser, how it works to create your text etc, the easy way to add pictures etc.

I've tried Obsidian but the result isn't the same.

Is there any tool that could make something similar ? Really a weird request I know. Obvious answers could be a office suite and could be a solution but I'd like to work on like .md files or something like that.

Thanks !

Software support MPC-BE Delay when opening a new file or when going from one file to the next in a playlist

Exactly as the title says. I used to use MPC-BE on my laptop for years and it was basically instantaneous. I recently got a pc and downloaded MPC-BE on it since I love the video player, unfortunately whenever I use it to open a file, it takes 3-4 seconds to load the file. The same delay happens when it goes from one file to the next in a playlist. Windows media player loads it instantly so I am inclined to believe this is an issue with MPC-BE and not my pc itself. My drivers are up to date and I am on windows 11.

Thanks for any help!

Looking for software [Open source] Filee – a free, MIT-licensed file converter for Windows: hold a key, drag files, drop them on a format

Thumbnail filee.sh
65 Upvotes

Filee is open source (MIT) and free, with no ads or paid tier. Source code: https://github.com/KnifeLemon/Filee

I'm the developer.

Hi! I got tired of uploading files to converter websites, so I built a desktop converter that works entirely offline.

How it works: hold a key (Ctrl by default, configurable) and drag files. A donut-shaped menu opens at the cursor; drop the files on a format and the converted files appear next to the originals. You can also use the right-click menu in File Explorer (top level on Windows 11), Send To or a keyboard shortcut.

- 180 formats: images (incl. HEIC, PSD, camera RAW), PDF, Word/Excel/PowerPoint, e-books (EPUB, MOBI, AZW3, CBZ), video and audio, archives, CAD (DWG/DXF), fonts, Korean HWP

- No upload, no ads, no watermark, no account, no file-size limit

- Converts DOCX/XLSX/PPTX without Microsoft Office

- Batch conversion in parallel; presets for quality, size, PDF merge/split, ZIP, output folder and names

- Heavy engines (FFmpeg, LibreOffice, calibre, Ghostscript, Pandoc) are optional downloads you pick in the installer or later

- MIT licensed, C# / .NET 10 + Avalonia

Source (MIT): https://github.com/KnifeLemon/Filee

Download: https://filee.sh

The installer isn't code-signed yet, so SmartScreen may say "Windows protected your PC" (More info → Run anyway). Feedback and format requests are very welcome!

Solved Free alternative to Fences for Windows - sharing in case anyone needs it

My desktop has always been a mess. Shortcuts, installers, screenshots, half-finished projects. I'd clean it up, and a week later it was back to the same state.

Fences is the obvious answer, but it's paid, and I didn't want to pay for something that only organizes icons. I also didn't want a heavy "customization suite" that replaces half of Windows or runs in the background eating RAM.

A few things I considered:

Fences: works, but paid

Manual folders: I just don't keep that up

Heavier desktop tweakers: more than I needed

Then I found DeskBox, a free organizer for Windows on SourceForge :

What stood out for me is that it organizes the desktop without replacing it. Boxes can map real folders, similar files stack automatically, and capsule mode shrinks any box into a pill that opens on hover. The "Organize desktop" preview, where you tick which files to move, also makes cleanup feel safe rather than risky.

Release Tasket++ (new 2.1 release): Simulate your Windows actions automatically (free & open source) - Looking for testers

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Tasket++ lets you define your own clicks, keystrokes, cursor positions and system operations, then replay them exactly when you want. It’s a simple Windows tool that handles repetitive workflows for you: auto‑send messages, paste text anywhere, take silent screenshots, launch or close apps, adjust volume or run your end‑of‑day shutdown sequence.

Everything runs locally, with no telemetry, no cloud, and no complexity.

What it can do:
- Replay user‑defined cursor positions and keystrokes
- Paste predefined text anywhere
- Perform system actions: open files/programs, change volume, take silent screenshots, shut down, files/folders operations
- Schedule tasks at a specific time, at startup, or run via desktop shortcut
- Run tasks once, in loops, or indefinitely
- Discreet mode: runs quietly from the tray
- Use command line to autorun a task : Tasket++.exe "TaskName" <delayInSeconds (>0)> <NumberOfLoop (-1 for infinite)>
- Easily share tasks between different PC : just import the .scht file located in /saved_tasks

Local, portable, free, open source. Privacy intact.

Fully fonctionnal, available now !
Microsoft Store: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/xp9cjlhwvxs49p
Portable (v2.1): https://files.amirhammoutene.dev/Tasket++/2.1/Tasket++_v2.1.zip
Source: https://github.com/AmirHammouteneEI/ScheduledPasteAndKeys

For feedback, help, suggestions, or other inquiries : [contact@amirhammoutene.dev](mailto:contact@amirhammoutene.dev)

Nothing is vibe coded, I never used AI (except for the choice of UI colors suggested by Copilot).
Conception is genuine, I didn't know about similar tools when I began developing it.

I'm looking for testers or quick feedback (beyond its visual aspect), please give a try and comment here :)

Solved I built a tiny tool because I kept sending things to myself

Post image
0 Upvotes

This started as one of those annoying little problems that kept happening to me.

I’d have some text, a link, screenshot, code snippet, or image on my laptop and need it on my phone.

Then I’d end up:

- messaging it to myself

- emailing myself

- opening WhatsApp/Telegram

- or doing the classic “I'll just figure it out later” thing 😅

So I built **nudg**.

The idea is pretty simple:

**Paste something → get a short code → open it on another device.**

No account. No login. No setup.

You can send text, links and images, and the drop automatically expires after the time you choose. There's also a QR code if you don't feel like typing the code.

I also made a Chrome/Edge/Firefox extension so you can right-click text or an image and send it to nudg without leaving the page.

A few things I added because I wanted them myself:

- 🔐 Optional PIN protection

- 💨 Burn after reading

- ⏱️ Auto-expiry (5 min → 24 hrs)

- 👀 View limits

- 🖼️ Image sharing

- 🧩 Browser extension

- 🚫 No account or email required

- 🆓 Free and no ads

It's still very much a **“I built this and now I need other people to tell me what's wrong with it”** project.

So if you have 30 seconds, I'd genuinely love it if you tried it:

And please be brutally honest 😄

Is this actually useful?

What would stop you from using it?

Is anything confusing or annoying?

What feature would make you keep it bookmarked?

Even “this is pointless, here's why” is useful feedback.

Built this as a solo project, so I'm particularly interested in hearing from people who switch between multiple devices throughout the day.

Thanks for checking it out 🙌

Release Porter: Open Source Cross Platform Port Manager

Post image
0 Upvotes

Meet Porter, a small app I built to make one everyday annoyance disappear.

If you build apps or websites, you've probably seen it: you try to start your project and it says the port is already in use. A port is just the doorway an app uses to talk to your computer, and something else is quietly sitting in it. Finding out what usually means a trip down a rabbit hole.

Porter shows you everything in one simple window:

• See which ports are free and which are taken, updated live

• Find out which app is using a port

• Close anything that's stuck with one click

• Pin the ports you use most so they're always at the top

• Search instantly

• Switch between a clean dark mode and light mode

• Make everything bigger or smaller to suit your screen • Get notified when a new version is out

It works on Windows, Mac and Linux, it's light on your computer, and it's completely free.

This is the first public release, so I'd really love your feedback. What's missing, what's confusing, what would you want next?

Download it here: https://github.com/t21dev/porter-app/releases/latest

Develop support I built Exorcist, a Windows cleaner. Tell me what's wrong with it

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

I built Exorcist because uninstalling apps on Windows leaves gigabytes behind and no tool tells you what the leftover folders actually are.

Please give suggestions, or raise any issues if there. Or what else i can provide.

What it does now: scans AppData / ProgramData for orphans, finds large files + byte-identical duplicates, labels everything Safe to Clean / Check First / Skipped with a plain-English explanation. Everything goes to Recycle Bin, dry-run by default. Never auto-deletes.

Repo: https://github.com/swaroopstack/Exorcist

I want brutal honesty, not stars:

  1. What's wrong? — run scan, tell me any folder it mislabels or wrongly flags. Screenshots welcome.

  2. What's missing? — which feature would make you actually switch from what you use now?

  3. Would you trust it? — what would it take for you to run clean --execute on your machine?

Every real answer goes into the roadmap. Thanks.

Release I made a free, open-source app that turns your phone into a webcam — nothing to install on the phone

Thumbnail gallery
233 Upvotes

Every phone-as-a-webcam tool I looked at (DroidCam, Iriun, Camo, EpocCam) needs an app installed on the phone. I wanted one that didn't, so I made it. It's free, open source, and everything runs locally — the video goes straight from the phone to the PC, there's no account and no server in the middle.

You open the desktop app, it shows a QR code, you scan it with the phone's normal camera app and a web page opens. Tap "Start camera" and your phone shows up as a camera called OmniCam in Discord, Zoom, Meet, Chrome, OBS, pretty much anything that lists webcams. The video goes over your own Wi-Fi using WebRTC, so nothing leaves your network.

Things worth knowing before you try it:

  • It will eat your phone's battery. Streaming costs about what a long video call costs, and because the phone side is a web page the screen has to stay on with the page in front. A native app could stream with the screen off, which is the real tradeoff for not installing anything. Phone gets warm, so plug it in for anything long. It does drop to 5 fps when nothing on the PC is actually using the camera, so idling is cheap, but an actual call is not.

  • Windows only right now (10 and 11, 64-bit).

  • Your phone will show a certificate warning the first time. Browsers only allow camera access over HTTPS, and nobody can issue a real certificate for 192.168.x.x, so the app makes its own. You accept it once and that's it.

  • The installer isn't code signed yet, so SmartScreen will give you the "Windows protected your PC" thing.

  • Video only, no microphone yet.

  • It won't show up in the Windows Camera app or the new Teams. Those use a newer camera API I haven't implemented yet.

It's MIT licensed, source and installer are on GitHub: https://github.com/Orest-Z/OmniCam

I mostly built it for fun and because I wanted it to exist, but I'd like it to actually be useful to people, so I plan to keep working on it. On battery specifically there's room to improve: dropping resolution instead of framerate when the phone starts heating up, a plain battery saver toggle on the phone page, and a lower default than 1080p. Linux support and a virtual mic are the other big ones on my list.

If you try it and something breaks, tell me, that's genuinely the most useful thing you can do.

This might be basic questions I'm sorry in advance. A little background I got a BS in computer science with AI concentration. I have code on python, java script. I have some projects that I have done and now I want to see how I can make them a installable file that I can install on any computer ( example a download from a store or just a .exe) I been looking around and I might not be looking on the right places but I would like some guidance maybe were to look or a tool that people use for this?. Any advice is welcome.

Release Notchify, Dynamic Island for Windows: the lyrics update - live synced lyrics, a lyrics widget, and an island that follows your cursor

A couple of weeks ago I posted here about Notchify's widgets update. This is the follow-up, and it is all about music. The video shows it better than words, but here is what changed.

Lyrics, everywhere the music is:

  • Live lyrics on the island: while a song plays, the collapsed island shows the words being sung right now, in short groups that roll in with the song.
  • Lyrics in the player: hover the island and the player widens with the full lyrics next to the controls. Click any line and the song jumps to that moment.
  • Lyrics widget: the whole song over a background that flows with your album art's colors, with the current line filling in letter by letter. Drag to scroll back through the song.
  • Pin it: Tap the pin on the lyrics widget and the island stays open showing just the lyrics, so you can keep them on screen while you work.

It works with Spotify, Apple Music and anything else that shows up in Windows' media controls, and it follows your theme, light themes included.

For multi-monitor setups:

  • Follow cursor: a new display option that moves the island to whichever screen you are working on, instantly. You now pick the display from simple cards in settings.

It is on the Microsoft Store, with a short free trial: Notchify

Last time a lot of you asked for more ways to use the island while music plays, and this release came straight out of that. If there is something you wish it did, tell me. I read every comment.

Solved I got Windows 11 Snipping Tool's OCR working with Greenshot

I've used Greenshot forever, but its OCR options have always been a weak spot for me.

I had been using Capture2Text through Greenshot's External Command plugin, but I regularly OCR hardware model/serial numbers and it struggled pretty badly with things like O vs 0. That's a bit of a problem when you're trying to grab something like 21R4S0LJ00.

Windows 11's Snipping Tool, on the other hand, has surprisingly good OCR through its Text Actions feature. So I went down a rabbit hole figuring out whether I could use that OCR engine without giving up Greenshot.

Turns out you can.

I put together Greenshot-OneOCR, which connects Greenshot's External Command feature to the OneOCR engine included with Windows 11 Snipping Tool.

The workflow is basically:

Capture > OneOCR > Clipboard > Ctrl+V

It takes around a second or two on my machines and the recognized text is automatically placed on the clipboard.

I tested it against a bunch of hardware model numbers plus normal text, paths, email addresses, quotes, dollar signs, etc. The difference compared with Capture2Text was significant enough that I figured somebody else might find this useful too.

I ended up turning it into a small PowerShell installer so setup doesn't require manually digging through the Snipping Tool package. It finds the OneOCR components from your installed copy of Snipping Tool, downloads the CLI wrapper it needs, and prints the exact External Command settings to put into Greenshot.

Nothing from Microsoft's OneOCR installation is redistributed.

GitHub: https://github.com/bobaflett/Greenshot-OneOCR

It's Windows 11 only, and OneOCR is an undocumented/internal Snipping Tool component, so there's always a chance Microsoft changes something and breaks it later.

This started as a "surely there's a better OCR option for Greenshot" project and got slightly out of hand.
