As long as the most popular vehicle in america isn't a practical one, but an 80k "truck" with a tiny bed, an extended cab and all of those other bells and whistles, manufacturers will keep making vehicles like that.
When people stop buying that shit then things will change, maybe.
From a business standpoint, they are going to spend roughly the same amount of time/money making a car no matter how they make it, so why would they choose to not add in all that junk if it means they can up charge for all of it.
Consumer protection policies are what prevent this, and America has been cutting those away year after year.
The fact that prediction markets are mainstream is an abomination, and should be a dead canary to anyone who is paying attention.
