The 7th Saga of women.

u/Slight_Peanut_9485 10d ago

That has got to be the most niche joke I've seen this year, bravo

24

u/IcyDisplayGuy 10d ago

I don't understand the source of this joke

The 7th Saga was a SNES RPG that was made brutally difficult with its US localization. Rented it when I was like twelve, had a bad time.

It couldn't be worse than.... Whispers Battletoads

u/VariousProfit3230 10d ago

What in the turbo tunnel is a Battletoad?

I missed out on that as a kid. From age 6-15 we only had a SNES. As an adult, when playing the gems I’ve missed, can confirm. At least Battletoads felt satisfying when you made progress.

Good luck finding a store that has it in stock!

I've been calling every Gamestop in a 50 mile radius every week for 20 years, they never have it!

Try to call Gold & Silver Pawn Shop, they might have it.

2

u/PrivilegeCheckmate 9d ago

Nah, best they can do is Crystal Chronicles.

I swear to god they only released Battletoads 2020 to put a stop to this. The SWITCH release last year should allow them to continue answering YES to that question for some time to come.

Battletoads was great until you go to a level that was like 60-70% into the game.

u/Gwynito 9d ago

The main thing I remember about that game was a jump you had to do on a motorcycle or something and the timing needed to be perfect

u/DoesntFearZeus 9d ago

I think it was a jetski over lava or in the sewers.

Enix just fucking hated us back then or something. Paladin's Quest was just as hard.

And then they also had Actraiser 2.

That game was amazing! One of my favorite games as a kid. That bounty hunter just wouldn’t stay dead!

From what I remember the Alien hit hard. The demon was a magic user?

Had to rent it from Blockbuster, could only ever make it past the first area. I think I remember there was a cave or something that separated areas 1 & 2. It was so long ago I don't know if I remember it right.

That was one of the first real video game RPG's I played and fell in love with it. 7th Saga and D&D Warriors of the Eternal Sun.

Looks like only 156 people remember playing 7th Saga. And I'm one of them.

From the sound of this story, either that guy was a secret NPC, or he thought the girl was an NPC and so he just moved on immediately.

True! Like in Fallout, I love using a rocket propelled grenade launcher! I think it's called an RPGL.

30

u/gerber411420 10d ago

Did you know RPG is a backronym?  the original acronym is Ruchnoy Protivotankoviy Granatomyot It translates to "hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher in Russian

4

u/sponglered 9d ago

You had me scratching my head, I couldn't tell if you were trolling or confused, but I think I get you now. "RPG" is not a backronym. It's the acronym (pedantry: it's an initialism, not an acronym, because each letter is pronounced individually). The backronym you're talking about is the english "Rocket Propelled Grenade". The original russian name is the 'nym' part from which the initialism is derived, but it's not 'acro', either.

3

u/gerber411420 9d ago

You are correct it is an initialism, but I didn't want to get to pedantic, which I'm glad you did lol people love calling FBI an acronym when its not but NASA is lol

2

u/EnvironmentalCow8840 9d ago

That’s great, because just like most Elder Scrolls games this one may start with you being locked up.

I think he meant either Rocket Propelled Grenade, or Rampant Pugilistic Girl.

That man dodged a non-magical missile

Say what you will about W, he cheated the 2000 election, he was in on 9/11, he killed two million Iraqi civillians, but the man could dodge a shoe.
