Discussion What's does it look like for 2027?
Same as the title, I don't have hopes for any win this season (except when we get extremely lucky). But how does it looks for the next season? Will RB be able to deliver a championship level car? What do you guys think? Genuinely want to hear from some insights.

I think there will be an improvement of the car come 2027 but not that big of an improvement, maybe it will be in the same level as this season's maclaren or ferrari

Realistically, it will probably be similar to 2018-2020. I hope it will be a car that can at least compete for a few wins this season; I don't think it will be a title contender.

With MGU role set to be reduced for next year, it is possible RBPT's supposedly top-of-the-line ICE will suddenly blossom into a main player in 2027.
Max seems focused on giving feedback on chassis issues by serving as the team's most sensitive non-computer defect sensor. I trust behind the scenes processes are in motion.
The new wind tunnel should be up in early 2027.
There will be progress in 2027, just don't expect a sudden jump to the top.

I don't see any hope for Championship fight but i hope we are atleast like Ferrari/Mclaren where we can fight for some wins

Isn't the biggest issue rn the fact that the PU overall isn't very good, but because FIA says the engine part is the best, RBR can't use ADUO and so engine development is mostly locked?
The car has other problems than the engine ofc, but that seems like an issue to me.

Well the ICE clearly is very good since it was graded the best by FIA. The electric unit is not part of the performance balancing, so clearly that's where Mercedes has an advantage. Whether it's about clever deployment or just a better unit overall, I don't know.
Next year the power balance will also shift from the current 53/47 to 58/42, which reduces the importance of the electric unit somewhat.

Reasons to be optimistic for the future:
- Max
- New wind tunnel soon
- Incredible 1st engine attempt
- In season development is still strong as last season and this one have shown
- The young drivers have real promise (Hadjar/Lindblad/Tsolov)
- Max

there is hope, the car right now is far from the top 3 but next year red bull will be in the top 4 mix and be a good car, even a win capable car. they stopped developing the rb22 because they want to focus on the rb23 so most likely the car will be a lot better than the rb22

Mercedes will utterly dominate until 2029, but I do think Max can pick a win or two until then when things go wrong at Merc and the stars align

Not much better as long as Pierre Waché remains the team's technical director. And with all the people who have left Red Bull Racing, the future looks pretty bleak.

Well let’s see the breakdown of 2027 season in terms of:
Power Unit, Chassis, ADUO changes, and Personnel changes.
So far, RBPT is considered the benchmark when it comes to the ICE, which, first of all, is a remarkable achievement. And honestly, it’s visible too. It’s just the ERS part and the chassis where we’ve sucked this season. Anywhoo, the ICE-ERS percentage is changing next year, meaning the ICE will contribute around 58% (compared to roughly 53% this season). This should give us some big advantages next year.
Besides, with RBR not getting ADUO, they have decided to shift their focus towards next year, and there are rumours that they are targeting some aggressive PU upgrades for next year. So they will spend the second half of this season studying the engine, understanding its problems and solving some minor issues, and then focus more heavily on PU development for next year. So I expect us to do better on the ERS side next season and improve even more in terms of straight line speed.
There are also rumours of Aston Martin being interested in having an engine partnership with either Mercedes or RBPT, especially RBPT since our engine has some similarities to the Honda philosophy they currently have. So those rumours are always good to hear, as they show that we have a good enough PU already, it just needs more upgrades and some fixing.
It’s not a surprise that our chassis has been so ass; we are still using a WW2 era wind tunnel, which causes massive correlation issues. Like, notice how Max is often complaining about having trouble with the rear axle and the car being bouncy through the turns, yet the team is saying that they can’t really figure out those problems through the data. Those issues should hopefully be much easier to understand and resolve with our new wind tunnel, which is being introduced early next year.
There are also rumours that RBPT has even more potential and is being let down by dogshit aero and chassis. But I expect that to get better next year.
I don’t think that RBR will be the benchmark in terms of chassis. Ferrari will probably continue to dominate that area, or maybe McLaren. But RBR should improve too, which should improve our race pace, tyre degradation, etc.
3.ADUO changes;
Now, as per the rumours, the FIA has realised that just looking at the ICE is not a true indicator of the strength of an entire power unit. (Took them long enough) So they might change the ADUO rules and include ERS testing as well, where Mercedes is absolutely dominating.
So RBR might actually get lucky and receive ADUO bonuses next year too. Which might also explain why RBR aren’t really publicly complaining too much about not being allotted ADUO this year.
Well, GP will take gardening leave, so that will be a big loss. But there are rumours that Wache was actually reluctant to share too much information with GP this season since he is leaving for McLaren, and that created some correlation and communication issues this year.
With GP eventually gone, Tom Hart will take his place as Max’s engineer next year ig, and McCullough will be joining as Head of Racing next year, replacing GP. He’s pretty experienced, so that’s going to be very interesting.
Marko is also being replaced by that Mercedes scout who scouted Kimi, so that’s something as well.
So next year will essentially be Mekies’s own personnel, which is going to be a big test for him too.
Overall, I don’t expect RBR to immediately start threatening Mercedes next season, but I expect a McLaren vs RBR fight for second place, with RBR potentially edging them in the second half of the season.
I think this RB22 has massive potential waiting to be unlocked. I mean, the car is so weird, you see them performing so poorly in qualifying, and then it wakes up in race pace. It looks super fast on the mediums and then so ass on the hards.
With a more balanced car and better aero, I think RBR can potentially become a proper threat to Mercedes by the 2028 season and challenge them for titles. But for that RBR needs to nail their 2027 season, which is why it’s gonna be much more interesting and exciting for us next year.
