Not My Cup Of Tea❗️ Wait...so Wall Street and Walmart workers should get the same pay bonus?

Post image

I get the arguments for "living wage" or even universal income. But let's not pretend its not communistic.

More education and skills gets you more bonuses. Shouldn't be the government.

I’m sure the world will function just fine if everyone quits their jobs and works in finance

Who was considered an ‘essential employee’ during COVID? Who did people stick signs in their lawns praising and thanking for still working during COVID? I don’t remember those signs thanking stockbrokers and finance d-bags, do you?

Did you miss the point where you worded your sentence as poorly as possible. You said made a check, then immediately pivoted to your pay being slightly above 7.25 and spoke of raises. How the hell was anyone supposed to know you meant processing payroll checks?

Point stands. 1% of workers make federal minimum wage. About 6% make the local minimum wage. And about 10% make less tn $15.

Again, your experience means nothing to no one.

What percent of people are making minimum wage? What percent of entry level jobs pay minimum wage? How many people in ghe work force are between 16 and 17 years old. This post is propaganda because there are more entry level jobs than people that make minimum wage. There are more 16 and 17 year olds working than make minimum wage. Less than 1 percent of people make minimum wage. It doesnt matter what minimum wage is to be honest because the market decides the wage. If minimum wage is lower than the minimum people would be willing to do a job for the wage for that job will be higher than minimum wage. If a job would be so easy that some one would be willing to do it for less than minimum wage then minimum wage simply make that job not exist.

That’s not how it works. Millions of people are working jobs they can’t afford to live on, then they apply for help from the government. So instead of the business paying them what they need to survive, TAXPAYERS are. Corporations are stealing from taxpayers to subsidize wages. The average minimum wage worker is a full grown adult. The percentage of teenagers working those jobs is minuscule.

Coorperations are paying these people more than anyone else is willing to pay them. If some one else was willing to pay them more why arent they working for tge people that would pay them more? Literally why is it the fault of the people that are willing to pay the employee more than any other place? Why not blame the people that arent even willing to pay them ghe rate walmart is willing to pay them? You blame the people that actually give them a job and pay them but not the people that would have paid them less? Why dont you pay these people more than walmart does? Walmart does more for them then you do.

Because those small businesses that WERE paying them WAY ABOVE minimum wage got closed down by Walmart selling items at a loss to put them out of business. Google predatory pricing since apparently you have no understanding of basic economic issues.

"What percent of people are making minimum wage?"

1%

"What percent of entry level jobs pay minimum wage?"

Somewhere between 1-2% of all jobs are min wage.

"How many people in ghe work force are between 16 and 17 years old."

Ok here we go. This is an all too common argument. "Min wage jobs are for teenagers. Flipping burgers and making coffee shouldn't pay livable wages"

Let me ask this, who's working at McDonald's and Starbucks on weekdays while school is on session? Should those people be able to live off of the wages paid? If not then those job shouldn't exist, right?

If paying a livable wage makes your business fail, your business is a failure.

You failed to answer how many entry level jobs pay minimum wage. You did not answer that. You made a different answer of how many jobs pay minimum wage which is less than 1 percent. Many entry level jobs pay more than minimum wage.

Not every job needs to be something some one lives off of. People should be allowed to do what ever work they want to do for a wage some one is willing to pay them. So long as both consent why not let them. It is better then them not doing anything making 0 money.

I would disagree. Anyone who puts in a solid 40 hours worth of earnest work should be making a living wage.

Not everyone can get a college degree or are able to work highly skilled trades. The world still needs porters, janitors, farm workers picking certain crops automation is not suited for, still needs people packing and crating eggs, preparing fish and poultry and other meat processing etc.

There are lots of entry level non skilled jobs that are full time and are honest work. Some people work them their entire lives, maybe because of circumstance, maybe because that is the highest level of work they are capable of.

Those people, the ones who work hard every day to provide for their family, are hard working, do not want a hand out, take pride in their labor, live a moral and healthy life. They should absolutely be able to make able to make a living on that labor.

I am not saying that they should be able to drive sports cars or eat at fancy restaurants every day, live in mansions etc. But they absolutely should be able to raise a family, put a little bit away in savings for retirement, afford a modest vacation once a year, and live a relatvily stable, albeit modest, but comfortable life.

If we set up the system where those people, those hard working honest people, without which society would come to a halt, are not able to live a dignified life, then YES society is at fault.

First off, jobs aren't paid by how hard the work it. Its based on how hard the worker is to replace. Day to day, lower paid lower skilled workers actually work harder than most poeple making much more money. Also, 1% is still over 800,000 people. Additionally, because the federal minimum wage hasn't been raised in like 20 years, state and llocal laws have set a hhigher minimum wage. Thisnisnhaeder to track, but its probably about another 5%. This gets worse when you look at sub $15 wages. Its abut 10% of all workers, 17 million people. The majority in the 20 states that only have the federal minimum wage. Partially because those are lower cost of living states, but also because the minimum wage does have an effect on wages upstream.

Sounds like you have bever worked a job like this, or known people who did. You only think teenagers have those jobs. More than half of those making the minimum are over 25. Amd 90% of workers earning under $15 are over 20.

I know that jobs arent specifically paid based on how hard they are, my point was that if there was some rediculously easy job where i silence a screen phone calls for some one and push through calls they want and they are willing to give me 50 bucks a day id do it. But minimum wage laws prevent me from doing that if some one was willing to pay me.

I have worked in restaurants, fast food, grocery stores, construction sites, computer technology, and medical field. I made minimum wage at the fast food restaurant. The rest all paid more than mi imum wage. I trained kids in construction that never had a job before and they were making more than minimum wage.
