walking down these hallways by myself... it gets so quiet.

when you spend all day lingering at the edges of everyone's attention, making sure everyone else is okay, you start to notice how easily people can look right through you. if i don't make an effort to be seen, nobody comes looking. i could sit across from them in the dining hall, close enough to hear every laugh and every conversation, and they might not even notice i was there.

it's almost like i'm already fading away. just some harmless little shadow taking up space in a room where nobody really needs me.

and when you're alone with that thought for long enough, your mind starts filling in the silence for you.
