TECH/GUIDE A GBVSR Replay Database
I wanted to build a website for the fighting game community for quickly finding specific matches. I had started this project originally as a tool for myself (and my discord buddies) but I think it kind of grew to be a useful tool that everyone could use. I started off with a few fighting games and now I am trying to get this done as a resource for people competing in evo France so I finally finished my second to last game GBVSR (all that's left is Avatar).
My website: https://replaydatabase.com/ pulls in replays from Youtube and allows you to do in depth filtering by:
- characters (matchup)
- player
- season (PATCHES!) and dates
Would love any and all feedback (good and bad) so that I can continue to make the website better. And if you spot a match that's tagged wrong, let me know or if you would like to request any features let me know. This has been a fun passion project of mine and I also really enjoy building things to help the FGC community grow!
Thanks for taking a look and I hope someone finds use for my tool!

TECH/GUIDE Zooey is pretty happy this patch.
Hooray for a meterless midscreen combo extender!
Fun fact: Against Vaseraga and Ladiva (but not Wilnas or Versusia), Zooey can actually use c.H after landing a grounded 623H. Unfortunately, it's too slow to actually hit, so it's not useful at all.
Fun fact 2: If you have Yuel as your announcer, she'll refer to Versusia as "Rein-chan."

TECH/GUIDE How do I counter your main's knowledge checks?
Drop your anti-tech in the comments. Here's mine: Don't jump when Beelezebub has over 50%, he will suck you in and you won't like it. Wait for it and spot dodge so he doesn't get back meter. You don't actually have to jump as much as you think in this game.

TECH/GUIDE ArcSys I beg you, please make 623H > 6L +10 on block
Remade the post because I wrote the wrong follow-up to 623H.
I know what you're thinking. "It's already +9! What more could you possibly want?" But Anre's fastest normal that reaches that far, f.M, takes 10 frames to start. Neither f.L nor 2L reach, and 2M takes 12 frames.
+9 is only exactly enough for a 66L to extend the combo, except this is frame perfect and must be manually timed. You have to immediately dash for exactly one frame and then press L the frame after, meaning you can't take advantage of the input buffer for the L button. (This is also why Wilnas's 236X is so terrible to punish at -9; many characters only have reversal 66L as an option to punish it on block).
Will +10 make 623H > 6L overtuned? No. While f.M would allow a combo extension, it only allows him to go into 214L meterlessly. You'd have to either burn resources or already be near the corner for a better combo. The conversion from f.M would be much worse for damage and corner carry than 66L into autocombo, but it would at least be an option that's easier than a one frame link.
Also, right now 623H > 6L in the corner allows Anre to go into c.M on a close hit. If 623H > 6L was +10, Anre still would not be able to go into c.H because c.H has 11 frames of startup. This change would not improve his corner combo; it'd only give his existing meterless midscreen combo extension a much easier but less rewarding option. Please, ArcSys, let us have this.

TECH/GUIDE Ilsa Video Character Guide
Hello, I've made a video guide for Ilsa, with tips on how to deal with fighting her at the end. If you use Ilsa already, this video may help you polish her up! Please share it around with anyone that plays the character, leave a like/command if you found it useful.
These videos take a lot time to make, so if you support content and guides being made for a game you love, please do not let this go unnoticed! Thank you!
Edit: Replaced corrupted video with new one

TECH/GUIDE Galleon's f.H can Safejab 80% of Invincible Reversals
Hey all! Resident Galleon enjoyer here.
I've known about this tech for a while, but just now sat down to full test the cast and every invincible reversal in the game to see just how powerful Galleon's f.H is as a safejab.
For those who don't know what I'm talking about, a safejab is an attack that hits an opponent on the first frame as they get up from being knocked down that will recover in time to block an invincible reversal. This covers your opponent waking up with a button (mashing) as they would get hit by your attack on their wake up, and covers your opponent waking up with an invincible option like a DP or a SBA as you would be able to block before they hit you.
In Rising, most characters can safejab with their c.L's, as they typically only have 6 frames of recovery, plus the 1 active frame needed to hit the opponent, totaling 7 total frames committed to a safejab. DPs in Rising typically follow a pattern of 9 frame reversals being the fastest meterless reversal (meaning Medium or Heavy versions of the skill), 11 frame reversals being the slightly slower meterless version, and 8 frame Ultimate metered reversals (that use 50% of your meter). c.L's also have a hidden frame after their final recovery frame where the user cannot block, meaning Ultimate reversals cannot be safejabbed (with rare exceptions of Wilnas' c.L and Yuel's st.2M).
With all that exposition out of the way, how the hell can Galleon's far HEAVY safejab anything?
The answer isn't in the amount of recovery Galleon's f.H has (12 frames), but in how her hurtbox recovers during those 12 frames. Galleon's hurtbox only remains extended for 3 frames after f.H's final active frame, making f.H virtually impossible to whiff punish. Coupling this with f.H's range, a spacing emerges where Galleon can time the last active frame of f.H to hit an opponent on their wake up, where she will retract her hurtbox quick enough to avoid invincible reversals all while being +6 if an opponent is blocking and +22 (twenty-two!!!) if they get counterhit for mashing. The good news (for everyone else) is that the spacing and timing required for this safejab will need to be manually done most of the time, the only autotimed and autospaced method for this safejab is guard delaying f.H after a light Primordial Grasp (this is also how I tested every reversal). The only way Galleon gets hit at this spacing is if the reversal's hitbox is bigger than f.H, and as the title suggests, theres not many that are that big.
Into the data:
Of the 35 meterless reversals in the game (that being M and H DPs), only 2 will hit Galleon. If you guessed Siegfried's H DP you'd be correct, but the curveball here was Wilnas' M DP.
Of the 37 Ultimate reversals (being anything that's not a parry or grab), only 8 will hit Galleon. Again Siegfried's U DP will connect, but an interesting mention is Avatar Belial's U DP being his only reversal to hit Galleon at that range. Also, Galleon can jump Vaseraga's U grab.
Of the 39 Skybound Arts that can be used as reversals, only 8 will hit Galleon. Some SBAs are difficult to punish afterward, but most leave the opponent right next to Galleon.
Of the 40 Super Skybound Arts that can be used as reversals, only 7 will hit Galleon.
TL:DR, In total, of the 151 invincible reversals in the game, only 25 will hit Galleon at the spacing where f.H can be a safejab. That's 93% of meterless reversals, 72% of Ultimate reversals, 74% of SBAs, and 78% of SSBAs that can be safejabbed with f.H to make 80% of all invincible reversals safejabbable by f.H.
Thanks for reading, and happy safejabbing!

TECH/GUIDE Your offense is the most important thing to learn if this is your first FG
Learn your offense. Learning what other characters and how to play against them will mostly come through actually playing against them and labbing and it will be a long journey to really know how to play against everyone.
The main thing you should learn is your character's offense. Learn what buttons high level players use in the neutral to either get in or poke. This will require a little bit of research on your character but I promise it's a lot simpler than it seems as most characters will just have a few options for very good footsie tools that you can use over an over.
Learn your most important combo options. So you should learn your conversion from 2L which would be crouching light attack and any overhead attacks you have. Lows, overheads(cetain standing attacks and jump in attacks), and throws are the most important thing to learn to open up your opponent. You need to vary these constantly so you're not predictable. Start to realize what opens up your opponent the most. If they keep blocking lows or overheads then switch it up and be unpredictable.
Super important part here. Whenever you have knocked down the opponent then this is your time to shine. You have a complete advantage over them. They're about to wake up and your hit if done correctly will have priority over anything. So this is where you can open them up with a low or an overhead or a throw. This is how you really impose your offense on people. This is an area that you should really focus on. Meaty attacks are attacks that hit perfectly on wake up and there is nothing that the person can do but block, get hit, or do an invulnerable move which could beat your meaty. If you see the opponent doing a lot of wake up invincible moves then just block on their wake up and punish.
Another strong offensive tool that is great is called tick throwing. With this you hit them with one attack and then proceed to go for a throw right afterwords. The first low attack from 2L into walk up throw is very strong and will open up a lot of people. Once people start breaking the throw then you can mix it up with a shimmy. So instead hit the low attack and then walk back a little and they will whiff the throw meaning that now you can attack and convert into a combo.
It doesn't matter how much you don't know how to deal with other characters right now as long as your offense at first is good, of course this is just adivce for beginners, eventually you will need to learn all the matchups. But if your offense is good it will work against anyone.

TECH/GUIDE GFVR Character's Reversals
Trying to learn about the game I was searching for a list of character's type of reversal, but I couldn't find one so I made it myself based on the Dustloop wiki's data. I am still trying to learn the match ups and have only played a few characters, so it may be wrong, could you help me correct if you find any mistakes? Like for Vane, I've seen he has only Ultimate reversal but I dunno if he can use any of his superarmor moves to use it effectively as a DP since I don't own the DLC characters.
How do you see it? Is it useful or accurate?

TECH/GUIDE Tips on Picking Up Charlotta
Hello Reddit \o/

TECH/GUIDE Galleons supers are fake
In case you didn’t know, all 3 of Galleons supers are jumpable on reaction.
Edit: for a bit of clarification Bub’s, Ladiva’s, and A.Bel command grab supers are 0 after flash which makes them unreactable, galleons is 1 frame after flash which means hers is uniquely jumpable after flash.
