💻 Help Unable to save, edit, move up or down bookmarks

So, as the title says

I'm living with this issue for a long time, it's not something that happened with 157.0 and it's getting annoying, I tried the problem resolution mode, nothing happened. I even tried to remove Firefox and reinstall it completely, useless.

I wrote in the Firefox forums, no one could help me out at this point.

Anyone encountered this problem in the past? Any suggestion?

💻 Help New Firefox Nova UI causes several themes to have a white border below the toolbar (v157.0)

I have noticed several themes that have this issue, while some other themes are fine. This happened for some of the themes that I created as well. I hope the Firefox team can fix this issue, as it does somewhat ruin the aesthetic of these themes.

Discussion Latest Firefox speed in latest oct 26 update?

I left trying to use firefox at the early 2026 due to its comparable noticeable slower speed than Chrome. After seeing firefox recent youtube ad video in Oct, I have just tried firefox again and I think it is really faster than ever, as fast as chrome for now as far as I have tested.

How do you guys think?

💻 Help Alpenglow broken after Nova Update

Hello, I saw that after upgrading to Nova, the compact sidebar has a solid purple in the background without extending the theme as it once did. Does anyone know if it's a bug that they're going to fix or that has already been fixed in later versions or if Alpenglow has been completely abandoned?

💻 Help Bookmark toolbar and menu bar not accessible when in fullscreen mode

When pressing F11, Firefox goes into fullscreen mode, and the tab list, the toolbar and the Bookmarks Toolbar disappear, which is great if you want more vertical space. And if you want to access the tab list or the toolbar, you can just move the mouse to the top of the screen.

However, when you are in fullscreen mode, if you normally use the Bookmarks Toolbar, this does not appear together with the rest of the toolbar when you move the mouse to the top of the screen. Besides, if you press Left Alt, which normally summons the menu bar, the menu bar does not appear when you are in fullscreen mode.

Why? Is this intentional? I really think the Bookmarks Toolbar should be shown when you move the mouse to the top of the screen—assuming "Always Show" is check under View→Toolbars→Bookmarks Toolbar—and that the menu bar should still appear when you press Left Alt, as I see no reason for why that should not be the case. If this would be the case, this would make fullscreen mode way more useful, IMO.

💻 Help Clear cookies exception doesn't work - I keep getting logged out

Hi,

I am in the process of migrating between systems. I have my desktop with Firefox, I use some multi account containers, I clear cache and cookies on browser close and I have some exceptions to not clear cookies, as I want to stay logged into my accounts. It worked fine on my desktop.

Now, I tried to do the same for my laptop. I turned in account sync and add on sync, my browser settings and containers are indeed synced. But the exceptions are not synced, so I tried setting an exception for some of the sites like my desktop, logged in, closed browser, and I am not logged in anymore. Nevertheless, the exceptions are still remembered.

Some details:

  1. On my PC, The exceptions are both in the Browsing Data section and in the History exceptions. So I tried setting the exceptions to both on my laptop too, still no success.
  2. On my desktop (where it works), I don't use the "Always use private browsing mode" option, and on History->settings "Cookies and site data" are checked, and "Site settings" is not checked.

Can anyone please help me troubleshoot this? I really don't think it should be that hard, maybe as Firefox updated it became bugged or something?

Thanks in advance.

Add-ons Does making YouTube think Firefox is Chrome speed up video loading?

Hi all, I made a small open-source Firefox add-on called **Let YT think Chrome**. It makes YouTube see your Firefox as Google Chrome by spoofing the User-Agent, Client Hints headers (Sec-CH-UA), navigator.userAgent / userAgentData, and a minimal window.chrome object. It only runs on YouTube domains.

**My question:** does this make videos load or start faster for anyone? I'm not claiming it does. Nothing in the add-on is designed to speed anything up, but YouTube sometimes serves different code paths or video formats depending on the browser it detects, so I'd like to know if people see a real difference, in either direction.

**How you can help me test:**

  1. Install it (signed by Mozilla, works in regular Firefox): https://github.com/thisisshihan/let-yt-think-chrome/releases/tag/v0.0.2

  2. Open YouTube, press F12, and run `navigator.userAgent` in the Console. It should show Chrome/154.

  3. Compare a few videos with the add-on on and off. Notice how fast playback starts, which resolution and codec YouTube picks (right-click the video → Stats for nerds), and whether anything breaks.

**Please tell me:**

- Faster, slower, or no difference?

- Your Firefox version and OS (I've only tested on Firefox for Windows)

- Any errors or glitches

**Source (MIT):** https://github.com/thisisshihan/let-yt-think-chrome

Heads up: this isn't undetectable (Firefox and Chrome differ in many other ways, like canvas/WebGL fingerprints and codecs), and it may not fix every YouTube issue. Replies here or issues on GitHub are both very welcome. Thanks!

So i installed firefoxpwa and the pwa extension on Librewolf and i decided to uninstall everything( except that i didnt remove the webapp before uninstalling the extension and app) because i figured out firefox has their own webapps, but after i delete everything and asked AI ways to remove it, I still cant seem to get rid of it, even if the app wont open, it stills bothers me, I use arch-caelestia shell and dots and they have their own app-launcher idk if that matters. Thanks

Discussion Don't Understand the Point of Smart Windows

I've been using "smart windows" in Firefox for about two weeks now and I don't understand the point of them at all. If anything I find it to be a very minor annoyance due to the new tab -> chat routing, but I am leaving it on in the hopes that it will improve.

This is what I want out of smart windows:

1) Automatic smart tab grouping.

I generally use my browser like this:

  • open a bunch of youtube tabs with music, various interesting videos I want to watch, etc.
  • do several "journeys" into topics of interest, for example recently I had several open tabs about historical lego sets, the movie Mars Express, stuff related to work, etc.

So I want tab grouping to be automatic, and customizable so I can give it rules to apply. I ALWAYS want youtube tabs treated a certain way (grouped together, minimized somewhere outside of the main tab bar, low memory usage / maybe even closed and just saved as a url). These same rules could apply to reddit tabs. This would be a useful and important function for firefox smart windows that could differentiate it from other browsers.

Firefox smart window SEEMS to have the ability to automatically do this. But in practice, whenever I open a new tab and start typing to search something, it just sends it to the local chat interface which SUCKS ASS. That feature, in my opinion should be ENTIRELY removed, or reworked so it's actually useful.

The core issue with the Ask feature is that the LLM they use is WAY too stupid to actually be of any use compared to the base ChatGPT, Claude, or even Gemini models which I use daily. So when it sends a new tab search to that LLM, I just get a useless, totally stupid response. I can post some screenshots of what I mean later. Honestly I don't want to use the Firefox Local LLM at all.

I discussed two features of smart windows: - auto tab grouping which I like but needs to be improved - firefox ask (the chatbot) which I hate and honestly want removed

I can't really even recall what other features smart windows have, I haven't seen anything else.

Do you agree with my thoughts here? How have you been using smart windows?

Discussion Why is this so freaking troublesome to do?

Post image

I'm using Firefox Mobile forever but I almost threw it away because I couldn't figure out how to display some sites I'm visiting on the front page like this. Why is it so hard? It requires me to type/paste urls and then write a name for each one. I feel like I hacked it. And then there is no way to sort them in a different way. Ridiculous.

Hey everyone, how's it going?

My Firefox on Android, version 157, is having some tab loading problems... Sometimes the tab doesn't load, the screen stays black, a progress bar doesn't advance, And I had to restart Firefox for it to load the page again.

Has this ever happened to you? Is there a way to fix it?

💻 Help Can I get back the Access key for "Forget About This Site"?

Firefox 157 seems to have removed the access key for “Forget About This Site” / “Clear All Data for Website” from the History sidebar.

Previously I could right-click a history entry and simply press F to remove the entire site from history. Now I have to navigate the context menu manually.

The old Library (Ctrl+Shift+H) still has the F access key, so this looks like a regression in the redesigned sidebar rather than an intentional removal of the feature.

Small thing, but the kind of unnecessary UI regression that makes Firefox worse than before (for me of course).

I have already disabled the Nova, but can I get the access key back somehow? Thank you

Discussion Found a way to get the Nova compact mode on pre-Nova UI

(Marked as Discussion since I didn't find any better flair)

I found a way to get the compact mode from nova to the old UI.

Requirements: A version of Firefox with Nova (157+) (Librewolf is also supported!)

What to do:

  1. Enable Nova, if not done already (browser.nova.enabled in about:config set to true, For Librewolf: Settings > Appearance > Enable the Nova Redesign)
  2. Go to Settings > Appearance and set "Window Density" to "Compact"
  3. Disable Nova in about:config (Librewolf users can use the settings option mentioned above)

You now got compact mode in the old UI!

(Firefox devs, please don't 'fix' this, thank you!)

Help (Android) How can AI sites still track you ?

I use firefox mobile (android). There are a lot of AI sites to generate images from prompts or to animate pics or such things, which apparently can track you to count your daily credits (and often they even do that unfairily, i.e saying your daily credits are over even several days after last usage, or in case of network errors or stupidly rejected prompts etc).

So my question. Even if I open them in an anonymous tab, even if I clear all site data and cookies, even if I change my IP by disabling and later enabling mobile data again, they can still tell it's you and that your credits are over.

How is this possible ? Is perhaps firefox (or any other browser) still sending personal or phone data behind the scenes to allow sites to track you ? Should I believe that ? Is there any solution (even using 3rd party extensions) ?

Thx
