🌟 Community Spotlight🌟 What’s your Duolingo story?

We see so many amazing streaks, Scores, and milestones here 💚 Now we’d love to hear the stories behind them!
Maybe Duolingo helped you connect with family in their language, feel more confident on a trip, reach a Score you’re proud of, get into school, make a new friend, or simply do something you couldn’t do before.
Big milestone or tiny win, we want to hear yours! Tell us what you’re learning, your Duolingo Score (if you know it!), and what your learning journey has made possible for you.
And because we love a good story, every month we’ll send a little Duo reward to 2 lucky storytellers. Feel free to share your story in the thread, or if you make your own post, be sure to use the Community Spotlight flair so we don’t miss it!

Constructive Criticism Duolingo is suddenly too difficult
I’ve been doing Spanish. Over the past two weeks I’ve done about 1-2 lessons per day and each lesson has mostly new words. It’s very irritating as it’s introducing new words but then not letting me practice them. The topic says “course update: learn new words” and there’s a total of 6 topics that say that, each with 12 levels.
Is this a glitch or is it supposed to be like this? How do I stay motivated through these levels when I’ve no idea what is going on? It’s too many new words too fast. I’m on day 450 of my streak and have enjoyed learning Spanish until now but this is making me feel like deleting the app.
E: even the bits where you are revising words are all new words. I hate this

Bug? Honey in Spanish is Miel, not ME
This has happened to me twice now, and although it's a minor problem, I think it's an interesting one to solve.

Constructive Criticism Stupid Unit Check In!! 😡
They are doing that stupid unit check in crap again with the flash cards. I hate it ONLY because they always, without fail, add a bunch of words to review that they NEVER TAUGHT ME TO BEGIN WITH!!!!!!
Why do they continue to do this?

Constructive Criticism They need to change this maybe.
Anytime I turn on my phone and see this I get a mini heart attack and think my streak is frozen and I missed a day. Anyone else ? They need to change it. I like the color of it though

Achievement Showcase My best ever streak, and it ends here
I just reached a 1234 day streak on Duolingo, my highest streak ever. And although I'm proud of the achievement, this is where my time with Duolingo ends. At least for a while.
I previously had a 1000 day streak about 8 years ago, quitting at 1000 days partly because it was a nice number, but mostly because I was completely burned out and my relationship with the owl had become toxic.
This streak however, I never burned myself out, but I still found the daily commitment had turned into an absent-minded obligation and the goal of learning still became second to the goal of maintaining the number. It's really not a healthy way for me to think about it, and my constant jumping between languages has meant that I've only maintained superficial knowledge at best in each one.
I was originally going to quit at 1001 days, just to beat my last best, but I kept going. Today however, I'm happy with this number. I need to shift my priorities with language learning and Duolingo has felt like an excuse to be lazy about studying for me. There are also the numerous controversies and questionable changes that have soured my relationship with the platform.
All of those things are why I've decided to let my streak end, not on bad terms with the platform. I'm not deleting my account or anything. But I think it's healthy to reassess how I go about studying, which for me means quitting, and if I do come back, having a fresh start.
Anyway this is mostly a personal rant so I guess the takeaway for others is to be mindful of your own language learning goals and the effect your streak is having on you.
(included are my top courses, although I tried out a lot more)
TL;DR I got to 1234 days and I'm quitting to reassess my language priorities.

General Discussion Completed Junior's Toy Hunt Quest
Finally completed the quest, and I have a few thoughts.
I feel like this quest was setting people up for failure. The insane number of duplicate pieces was frustrating enough, added with the bug (?) where people weren’t receiving puzzle pieces even after completing lessons.
It really felt like the quest was designed to push people toward spending a ton of gems just to finish, and that doesn’t sit right with me. It feels pretty far removed from the spirit of Duolingo as I remember it from a couple of years ago.
I really hope they tone this kind of stuff down and take a different approach with future quests, because this was simply a cash cow scheme.

General Discussion The Crazy Bird Behavior is Hilarious
Folks, just examined the Crazy Owl Bird Behavior. It is softly said Hilarious .
So, during night hours is happy, than in 5-6 in the morning starts to cry, then it gets sorta suspicious and concentrated, then it starts to worry , sweat, scream (...I guess...)
and than the heavy part : stressed, angry-suspicious, angry-concentrated, then : terminator-mode,
... and then half-frozen & frozen... 😄
I also got those 2 strange warning messages.
Are you sure that it should be this way? Share in the Discussion below:

Bug? Made profile private and lost friend streaks
I just happened to see an option to make my profile private so I did. Found out after the fact that it killed the two year+ friend streaks I had. It did not mention that at all. Making my profile public again didn’t restore it either. I’ve heard others have had luck posting here and have gotten it fixed. I’m hoping someone from Duolingo will see this and can help. They haven’t answered my support ticket.

General Discussion It blows my mind the board members of this company don't use Duolingo
It literally takes like less than 5 minutes a day . To actually know the product you're pushing... Now I understand why the core reason this app is not trying to optimize the way you learn. It should be company officer policy , that if you're making more than 200 Grand a year you need to have a streak. If the higher employees, the ones who can actually effect change, are learning , that means they know what's working and what is not working. they need to understand they are not a company first. They are a mission to bridge the world together first. when I was first using Duolingo long time ago, this is why I admired it so much
